Rafael Lovera
Rafael Lovera Montiel (born October 17, 1952) is a former professional boxer from Paraguay. Lovera fought for the WBC's vacant world Junior Flyweight title, losing to Luis Estaba. Lovera is from Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay but he resides in Lambaré. Boxing career Lovera has the distinction of having fought for a world title in his only professional boxing match. Midway through 1975, the WBC desired its world Junior Flyweight champion, Italy's Franco Udella, to defend the title against Lovera. Udella refused and was stripped of the championship. Lovera then faced 28 wins, 7 losses and 2 draws (ties) with 20 knockouts veteran Luis Estaba for the vacant championship in Caracas, Venezuela, September 13, 1975. The World Boxing Council (WBC) is an international professional boxing organization. It is among the four major organizations which sanction professional boxing bouts, alongside the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO). Luis Estaba
Luis Alberto Estaba (born August 13, 1938) is a former boxer from Venezuela, who was born in Macuro, South American point of entry for Cristopher Columbus. He was nicknamed ''Lumumba'', because of his resemblance to Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. A late starter into boxing, Estaba became a professional in 1967, at the relatively old (for boxing) age of 29. He beat Pedro Garcia by a knockout in one on February 28 of that year. He kept his winning streak until losing a ten round decision to Natalio Jimenez in Caracas in 1968. He avenged that loss immediately by beating Jimenez in his next fight, by decision. After two more wins, he had his first fight abroad, when he lost to Jimenez, again by decision, at Santo Domingo. Fernando de la Mora () is a city located in the Central Department, and is part of the metropolitan area of Asunción, in Paraguay. With an estimated of 183,390 inhabitants, the city is the seventh most populated of the country. Franco Udella (born 25 February 1947 in Cagliari) is an Italian former world boxing champion. Thomas Peter Rademacher (November 20, 1928 – June 4, 2020) was an American heavyweight boxer. A gold medalist at the 1956 Olympics, he became the only person to challenge for the world heavyweight championship in his first professional bout when he faced Floyd Patterson in Seattle on August 22, 1957. He compiled a 15-8-1 record over 23 professional bouts. A former college football player at Washington State, Rademacher took up boxing as a form of rehabilitation during his recovery from rheumatic fever, which he contracted in military school. Joves De La Puz is a former professional boxer from the Philippines. In his only known professional boxing fight, he challenged for the then fledging International Boxing Federation's world Bantamweight title against Satoshi Shingaki. Title fight De La Puz challenged Satoshi Shingaki for Shingaki's IBF world Bantamweight title on August 4, 1984 in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The fight was a close one, lasting the fifteen round distance. De La Puz almost made history by becoming the first ever professional boxer to win a world championship in his very first professional fight, when he lost by a 15-round split decision, with scores of 144-147 and 144–146 against him and a 144-143 for him on the three judges' scorecards. Joko Arter (1955-2007) was a professional boxer from Indonesia. In his only recorded professional boxing fight, he fought Min Keun Oh of South Korea, losing by second-round knockout. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition.
