Rafael Gómez Ortega
Rafael Gómez Ortega, (1882 – 1960) also known as ''El Gallo'' ("the rooster") was an early twentieth century bullfighter. He came from a family of famous bullfighters, including his matador father, Fernando Gómez García and matador younger brother, José Gómez Ortega. He is today remembered for several of his unique fighting techniques such as the ''espantada'' - or "sudden flight", which simply consisted of him fleeing when the bull entered the ring. Other techniques included fighting bulls from a chair. His fights were considered amusing to audiences, and he was brought out of retirement seven times because of this "sportsmanship". He finally retired on October 4, 1936. Commentators find that his intermittent fear of the bulls was characteristic of his style, noting that he was often brave when it suited him, and gave in to panic when it did not. Rafael Gómez Nieto
Rafael Gómez Nieto (21 January 1921 – 31 March 2020) was a Spanish soldier and veteran of the Spanish Civil War and World War II. Biography Born in Adra, Almería (Spain), Gómez Nieto moved to Badalona, where he was called up to the "Lleva del Biberó" and fought for the Spanish Republican Army in the Battle of the Ebro (July–November 1938). After the war, he went to France where he was interned in the Saint-Cyprien camp. Four months later he was able to reach Algeria with his father, who was in the Argelés internment camp. After the invasion of North Africa by the Allies during World War II, he became part of the 9th Company (''La Nueve'') of the French 2nd Armored Division. This company, made up predominantly of Spanish Republicans, was the first Allied military unit that entered Paris after its occupation by the Wehrmacht. 146 of the 160 men in the company were Spaniards. Rafael "Rafe" Gomez is an American business writer, sales support consultant, lecturer, music producer, and DJ. Early life Gomez is a native of Jersey City, New Jersey and northern New Jersey. DJ career The Groove Boutique Sirius Satellite Radio In the 1980s through early 2000s, Gomez had been working as a producer of library music for film and television and also a jazz/groove club DJ in northern New Jersey. In 2002, Gomez approached Sirius Satellite Radio with the idea of hosting, performing, and producing a weekend jazz mix show. Sirius hired Gomez to create the show, which was named “In The Mix” and featured six hours of Saturday evening programming on Sirius’ Planet Jazz channel. Rafael Faustino Gómez (born 27 December 1967) is an Argentine professional golfer. Career Gómez was born in Buenos Aires. He turned professional in 1990. He played on the European Challenge Tour in 2003 and from 2005 to 2007 and the European Tour from 2005 to 2007. He played on the U.S.-based Nationwide Tour in 2004 and a few events on the PGA Tour. His best finish on the PGA Tour was 38th place in The International in 2002. His best finish on the European Tour was 22nd place in the KLM Open in 2006. Gómez won the TPG Tour Order of Merit in 2007 and the Tour de las Americas Order of Merit in 2001/02 and 2004. Rafael "Rafa" Gómez Company (born 5 January 1974 in Moncada, Horta Nord, Valencia) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Gómez began his career with local giants Valencia, playing for their B team, Valencia Mestalla, during the 1994–95 Segunda División B season. He was part of the first team squad that finished as La Liga runners-up the following year, but didn't play any matches. He left to join Racing de Ferrol ahead of the 1996–97 season, but stayed only six months before joining top flight side SD Compostela in the January transfer window.
