Radioteatret
Radioteatret is a department of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation which produces audio plays for radio broadcasting. It was established in 1927. In January 2021, ''Verdens Gang'' cited a report from NTB, saying that Radioteatret ow isbeing decommissioned; furthermore "the theatre will get a new life as podcast". Directors Its first theatre director was Gunnar Neels-Hansson, who headed the theatre until 1950. Later directors have been Jens Gunderssen from 1950 to 1952, Hans Heiberg from 1952 to 1973, and Gerhard Knoop from 1973 to 1984. Merete Skavlan headed the theatre from 1984 to 1991, and Nils Kristian Heyerdahl from 1991. Early history The private company Kringkastingsselskapet started broadcasting in Norway in 1925. Gerhard Knoop
Gerhard Herman Knoop (3 November 1920 – 25 October 2009) was a Norwegian actor, stage producer and theatre director. Early and personal life Knoop was born in Kristiania (present-day Oslo), the son of Herman Waldemar Knoop (1887–1961) and Ellen Caroline Sontum (1897–1962). He made his stage debut in a school revue while studying at the gymnasium. He took his examen artium (university entrance exam) in 1939. During World War II he was involved in resistance work, and had to flee to Sweden in 1942, where he joined the police troops. After the war, he studied at the University of Oslo and at the University of Denver. He married Eva Cecilie Julsrud in September 1948 in Denver. Theatre career Knoop was employed at Rogaland Teater from 1949, first as actor and later as stage producer. Gunnar Neels-Hansson
Gunnar Neels-Hansson (27 July 1883 – 9 June 1967) was a Norwegian theatre director. He was born in Kristiania to Thora Elisabeth Neelsen and Olaf Mørch Hansson. His daughter Thora Neels-Hansson was married to Per Schwab. Neels-Hansson was assigned with Stavanger scene as stage director from 1915, and later with Chat Noir. Merete Skavlan
Merete Skavlan (25 July 1920 – 2 November 2018) was a Norwegian actress, theater instructor and director. She was born in Kristiania as a daughter of newspaper editor and theatre director Einar Skavlan and music educator Margrethe Bartholdy. She was a granddaughter of literary historian Olaf Skavlan. She was involved in resistance work during World War II, and joined the unofficial " Stanislavskij Group" in 1943. The members of this group founded Studioteatret, and she made her debut at Studioteatret's first performance in 1945, in a translation of Wilder's play ''The Long Christmas Dinner''. She continued to play for Studioteatret until 1950. Her acting career continued at Det Nye Teater, where she played from 1950 to 1952, at Folketeatret from 1952 to 1959, and at Oslo Nye Teater from 1959 to 1967. Jens Gunderssen
Jens Gunderssen (19 May 1912 – 11 December 1969) was a Norwegian singer, songwriter, actor, stage producer and theatre director. Early and personal life Gunderssen was born in Drammen, as son of Karl Gunderssen and Ågot Uhl. His father was a prominent local politician, and mayor in Drammen from 1937 to 1950. He married the actress Gunvor Hall in 1942. Career Gunderssen studied law, and finished his cand.jur. degree in 1937 at the University of Oslo. While being a student he played amateur theatre. The leader of Det Nye Teater saw him playing, and offered him a role. Gunderssen made his professional stage debut in April 1939 at Det Nye Teater, where he worked until 1950. Hans Heiberg (28 January 1904 – 6 December 1978) was a Norwegian journalist, literary critic, theatre critic, essayist, novelist, playwright, translator and theatre director. Early and personal life Heiberg was born in Kristiania as son of city manager Jacob Vilhelm Rode Heiberg (1860–1946) and Christiane Jeanette Aimée Dedichen. Peter Lykke-Seest (26 September 1868 – 4 February 1948) was a Norwegian poet, novelist, playwright, non-fiction writer, script writer and film director. He was born in Christiania as a son of wholesaler Jens Peter Seest and Caroline Christiane Frederikke Thy. He was married to the actress and writer Lila Lykke-Seest. Ludvig Holberg, Baron of Holberg (3 December 1684 – 28 January 1754) was a writer, essayist, philosopher, historian and playwright born in Bergen, Norway, during the time of the Dano-Norwegian dual monarchy.
