Radio Winchcombe
Radio Winchcombe is an English local community radio station which broadcasts to Winchcombe and the surrounding areas. In December 2011 it was announced on the station's Twitter and Facebook pages that it had received a full-time licence from Ofcom, allowing it to broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on FM to Winchcombe and the surrounding area. The frequency was later confirmed as 107.1FM and the launch date as Friday 18 May 2012. From 2005 to 2011, the station broadcast twice a year under Ofcom's Restricted Service Licence regime since its first broadcast in April 2005. The first broadcast was partly inspired by the success of the now defunct Forest of Dean Radio, and was the first community service in Gloucestershire to launch after FOD Radio. Winchcombe
Winchcombe () is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucestershire, England, it is 6 miles north-east of Cheltenham. The population was recorded as 4,538 in the 2011 census and estimated at 5,347 in 2019. The town is located in the Cotswolds and has many features and buildings dating back to medieval times. History The Belas Knap Neolithic long barrow on Cleeve Hill above Winchcombe, dates from about 3000 BCE. In Anglo-Saxon times, Winchcombe was a major community in Mercia, favoured by King Coenwulf of Mercia, the others being Lichfield and Tamworth. BBC Radio Gloucestershire is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of Gloucestershire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, AM, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios at Portland Court in Gloucester. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 79,000 listeners and a 6.0% share as of September 2022. Corinium Radio is an online community radio station in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Launched in 2006, it first broadcast on a two-day Restricted Service Licence, becoming a full-time Internet-broadcasting community radio station in October 2014. Entirely volunteer-run, Corinium Radio provides round-the-clock community news, information and music covering a range of different genres. North Cotswold Community Radio is a non-profit community internet radio station serving primarily the North Cotswolds and the surrounding area in west-central England. The station began broadcasting in autumn 2007.
