Radio Narvik
Radio Narvik was a local radio station which covered the whole of Ofoten, including Narvik, Ankenes, Ballangen and Bjerkvik. The frequency was Frequency Modulation, FM 103,5 and 150,5 in all areas. It was also possible to listen via internet radio. In 2005 Radio Narvik was bought by the newspaper Fremover, becoming part of Jærradiogruppen AS. In December 2008, the radio station was closed down due to lack of income. Ofoten
Ofoten is a traditional district in Nordland county in Northern Norway. It consists of the municipalities of Tysfjord, Ballangen, Evenes, Tjeldsund, Narvik, and Lødingen. It is named after the main fjord, Ofotfjorden, which is at the center of this district. Narvik
( se, Áhkanjárga) is the third-largest municipality in Nordland county, Norway, by population. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Narvik. Some of the notable villages in the municipality include Ankenesstranda, Ballangen, Beisfjord, Bjerkvik, Bjørnfjell, Elvegård, Kjøpsvik, Skjomen, Håkvik, Hergot, Straumsnes, and Vidrek. Ankenes
Ankenes is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1884 until 1974. It encompassed most of the present-day Narvik Municipality, surrounding of the town of Narvik which was once its own municipality. The administrative centre of Ankenes was the village of Ankenesstrand, situated along the west side of the Beisfjorden, where the Ankenes Church is located. Today, the name Ankenes is often used to refer to the suburban Ankenesstrand area, just outside the town of Narvik. The European route E6 highway is the main thoroughfare through Ankenes and it follows the shoreline of the Ofotfjorden and Beisfjorden and it then crosses the fjord over the long Beisfjord Bridge where it then reaches the town of Narvik. Ballangen
Ballangen ( sme, Bálák) is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1925 until its dissolution in 2020. The municipality was part of the traditional district of Ofoten. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Ballangen. Other villages in the municipality included Bjørkåsen, Kjeldebotn, Kobbvika, and Skarstad. The municipality bordered Narvik Municipality to the east and Tysfjord Municipality to the south, and had a short border with Sweden to the southeast. Ballangen was situated on the southern shore of Ofotfjorden. Ballangen also included the long and narrow Efjorden, just south of the much larger Ofotfjorden. Bjerkvik is a village in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village is located at the end of Herjangsfjorden, an arm of Ofotfjorden. Bjerkvik sits less than south of the border of Troms county and about across the fjord from the town of Narvik.
