In radiometry, radiance is the radiant flux emitted, reflected, transmitted or received by a given surface, per unit solid angle per unit projected area. Radiance is used to characterize diffuse emission and reflection of electromagnetic radiation, and to quantify emission of neutrinos and other particles. The SI unit of radiance is the watt per steradian per square metre (). It is a ''directional'' quantity: the radiance of a surface depends on the direction from which it is being observed. The related quantity spectral radiance is the radiance of a surface per unit frequency or wavelength, depending on whether the spectrum is taken as a function of frequency or of wavelength. ''Radiance'' is a play by Australian author and playwright Louis Nowra and was first performed at Belvoir Street Theatre in 1993. The play focuses on three Aboriginal half-sisters, who have gone their separate ways in life, and are reunited when they arrive for their mother's funeral service. ''Radiance'' has been written both as a stageplay and a screenplay. Characters Mother The mother's name is not given in the stageplay, in the screenplay she referred to by the priest as Mary McKenna. She is already deceased at the start of the play, her daughters give their views of their common mother whilst reminiscing. It is revealed that the mother was very naive and carefree, however, her promiscuous nature was what she was most known for. Radiance (2017 Film)
is a 2017 Japanese romance drama film directed by Naomi Kawase. It was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or in the main competition section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. At Cannes it won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. Plot Masako (Ayame Misaki) creates movie audio descriptions. Her passion and her commitment to her work leads her to create scripts full of colors and textures in order to make them as accessible as possible to blind audiences. She tests it on a group of 10 blind people. At one of the pre-premiere screenings, she meets Masaya (Masatoshi Nagase), a renowned photographer who gradually loses his sight and ability to practice his craft. Masaya's strong character makes him the only one to firmly criticize her scripts. He helps Masako see the coldness of her careful descriptions. Jeff Tyzik
Jeff Tyzik (born August 1, 1951) is an American conductor, arranger, and trumpeter. He has recorded jazz albums as a soloist and arranged pop and jazz music for orchestras. Early life and education Tyzik, born in Hyde Park, New York, started playing cornet at age nine, after being inspired by the buglers in an Independence Day parade in nearby Poughkeepsie. He switched to trumpet at age 11. He attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, earning Bachelor of Music (1973) and Master of Music (1977) degrees. Career While at Eastman, Tyzik met Chuck Mangione, a flugelhornist from Rochester who was teaching at the school. He worked with Mangione between 1973 and 1980 as lead trumpeter in Mangione's band and as co-producer of four albums. Tyzik also began to collaborate with Doc Severinsen, when Severinsen brought him to London to work on two albums with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. ''Radiance'' is a double-album by American pianist Keith Jarrett recorded in 2002 in Japan at two different concerts: Osaka (October 27) and Tokyo (October 30). It was released by ECM Records in 2005. And in April 2006, a video recording of the live performance at Tokyo concert was released as ''Tokyo Solo''. Carter Scholz (né Robert Carter Scholz; born 1953) is an American speculative fiction author and composer of music. He lives in California. Biography Scholz grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey and graduated from Tenafly High School in 1971. He also attended Rhode Island School of Design.
