Rachel Hood (politician)
Rachel Hood (born October 12, 1976) is an American politician from Michigan. Hood is a Democratic member of Michigan House of Representatives from the old District 76, but now represents District 81. Early life On October 12, 1976, Hood was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan or Livonia, Michigan. Education In 1999, Hood earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Relations from Michigan State University. According to some sources, Hood also earned a degree in Public Policy from Michigan State University's James Madison College. Early career In 2000, Hood started her career as an executive director of West Grand Neighborhood Association, where she was involved in crime prevention and community development. In 2005, Hood was a Community Relations Manager at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. Hood is a co-founder of Local First and City Built Brewing Company. Michigan House Of Representatives
The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election. Drain Commissioner
A drain commissioner is an elected official in county government of the U.S. state of Michigan who is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining surface water drainage systems under Public Act 40 of 1956. In counties with a population under 12,000, the office of drain commissioner may be abolished with its statutory duties and responsibilities performed by the county's board of road commissioners. Unlike other county-wide officeholders, drain commissioners were created by statute and are not mandated by the Michigan Constitution. Drain commissioners are elected on the partisan ballot in presidential election years for a term of four years.
