Rachel Gould
Rachel Gould (born June 25, 1953 in Camden, New Jersey, as ''Rachel Field'') is an American singer and teacher of Modern Jazz. Life and works Gould studied cello and classical singing at Boston University from 1960 till 1971. From 1964 she worked as a backup singer. She only appeared occasionally in the early 1970s, in the jazz clubs on the East Coast. Only after her divorce and moving to Germany did she establish herself as a jazz musician. She formed her own quartet and toured Europe. In 1979, she appeared in London with Chet Baker and played the much acclaimed album "All Blues". In the early 1980s, she performed at numerous European festivals, and worked with groups led by Ack van Rooyen, Lou Blackburn, Ferdinand Povel, Bobby Burgess, Michel Herr, Tom Nicholas, Dieter Reith and Erwin Lehn. Martin Kunzler (born 29 April 1947) is a German jazz bassist and music journalist. He gained particular fame through his ''rororo Jazz-Lexikon'' published by Rowohlt Verlag, which is now considered the standard German-language work on this musical genre. Lawrence "Larry" Stephen Porter (September 1, 1951) is an American jazz musician and composer. Early life and education Porter began to take piano lessons when he was six years old. He began his education at the Eastman School of Music and continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music. At college, he founded the group Children at Play with Tom van der Geld in 1971. Career From 1973 to 1976, Porter lived in Germany and worked with Bobby Jones, Volker Kriegel, Kai Winding, Mel Lewis, Günter Lenz and ''Head, Heart & Hands''. Allan Conrad Praskin (December 17, 1948, in Los Angeles) is an American jazz musician (alto saxophone player, composer and bandleader). He is living in Europe for more than 30 years. Life and works Praskin had clarinette lessons, when he was very young. But very soon, he became acquainted with jazz through his father's record collection, which induced him finally to change his main instrument to alto saxophone. He had his first practical experience of improvised music, when he was a teenager in his home city, Los Angeles, where the jazz scene was very lively at that time. James Anthony Richardson (born 16 February 1941, Tottenham, London) is an English jazz and rock bassist and session musician. He was a member of the progressive rock band If. Career An original member of pioneering British jazz-rock band, If (1969–1973), he went on to undertake session and studio work. Around 1975–76 he was also a member of Pip Pyle's The Weightwatchers, with Elton Dean and Keith Tippett and leading his own group, Jim Richardson's Pogo Revisited which also featured Alan Barnes. In the late 1970s, his quartet featured Bobby Wellins. In 1981 he appeared on the Hoagy Carmichael tribute album ''In Hoagland''. In the mid-1980s he reunited with former If band member Dick Morrissey in Morrissey–Mullen. Riccardo Del Fra (born February 20, 1956, Rome) is an Italian jazz double-bassist, bandleader, composer, and arranger. Del Fra first played guitar, then switched to upright bass when he was sixteen years old.
