'' Gotham'' is an American crime television series developed by Bruno Heller, based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics in their Batman franchise, primarily those of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne. The series premiered in the United States on September 22, 2014 on Fox television network. The series stars Ben McKenzie as the young Gordon while Heller executive produces along with Danny Cannon, who also directed the pilot. As originally conceived, the series would have served as a straightforward story of Gordon's early days on the Gotham City Police Department, but the idea evolved, not only to include Wayne's "transformation" into Batman, but also to explore the origin stories of several of his villains, such as Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman and several others. Recurring Character
A recurring character is a fictional character, usually in a prime time TV series, who frequently appears from time to time during the series' run. Recurring characters often play major roles in more than one episode, sometimes being the main focus. They may be contrasted with "regular" characters, who typically appear in every or almost every episode of a series. Bruce Wayne (Gotham)
Bruce Wayne, alternately known by his vigilante name the Dark Knight, is a fictional character appearing in the Warner Bros. TV/DC Comics series '' Gotham'', based on the character of the same name who is the secret identity of DC Comics superhero Batman, created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, and developed for television by Bruno Heller. ''Gotham'' portrays Bruce's teenage years and transition into adapting his Batman personality in later years. The series marks the second time Batman was adapted for live-action television after the 1960s Batman series, though the lead character in ''Gotham'' is James Gordon. David Mazouz
David Albert Mazouz (; born ) is an American actor. He is best known for his leading role as Bruce Wayne in Fox's Batman-prequel TV drama '' Gotham'' (2014–2019). Mazouz started his acting career with several guest roles before joining the Fox TV series ''Touch'' (2012–2013), for which he was nominated for a Young Artist Award. He has had leading roles in the films ''The Games Maker'' and '' The Darkness''. Early life Mazouz was born in Los Angeles, to a Sephardic Jewish family; his father Michel Mazouz is a medical doctor from Tunisia, and his mother Rachel Cohen is a psychotherapist whose parents are from Greece. Harvey Bullock () is a fictional detective appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Batman. The character first appeared in '' Detective Comics'' #441 (June 1974) and was created by Archie Goodwin and Howard Chaykin. Donal Logue
Donal Francis Logue (born February 27, 1966) is a Canadian actor. He starred in the film ''The Tao of Steve'' and has had roles in the TV series ''Sons of Anarchy'', ''Vikings'', ''Grounded for Life'', ''Copper'', ''Terriers'', and, as Detective Harvey Bullock on Fox's '' Gotham''.
