RTÉ Board
The RTÉ Board is an eight-member body which makes policy and guiding corporate direction for RTÉ, Ireland's state public broadcaster. History The Board, then known as the RTÉ Authority, was established as the Radio Éireann Authority under the Broadcasting Authority Act 1960. The Authority is actually the legal entity known as ''Radio Teilifís Éireann'' and the body which has legal responsibility to run the services authorised under the Broadcasting Authority Acts 1960–2002. However, in reality actual management of the services is delegated to the Director-General and the staff of the Authority who together comprise RTÉ. The Authority met monthly and acted as RTÉ's board of directors, making general policy and overseeing the operations of RTÉ on a non-executive basis. Robert Shortt
Robert Shortt (born 1971) is an Irish journalist and former current affairs broadcaster. He is the RTÉ News Economics Correspondent since 2019. He previously was the Business Correspondent and Washington Correspondent for RTÉ News, and worked as a reporter with RTÉ's flagship current affairs programme ''Prime Time''. Shortt began his journalistic career with ''Nihon Keizai Shimbun'' and BBC News before joining RTÉ in 1998, working on radio as a reporter on ''RTÉ News at One'' before being appointed RTÉ News Business Correspondent in 2001. Deirdre Anne "Dee" Forbes (born 1 February 1967) has been the Director-General of RTÉ since April 2016. She is the first woman to hold the role, and the first external appointment in almost 50 years.
