RTA School Of Media
The RTA School of Media is a school within the Faculty of Communication and Design at Toronto Metropolitan University located in the Rogers Communications Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It offers two Bachelor of Arts (Media Production and Sport Media), a Bachelor of Fine Arts (New Media) and a Masters of Arts (Media Production). It was previously named "The School of Radio and Television Arts" and as such is and was commonly referred to as "RTA". It offers the only 4-year broadcasting degree programs in Canada and is reputed as one of the best media programs in the world. As of Fall 2013, it offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in New Media, which is a program that originated from and was transferred from TMU's School of Image Arts. Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU or Toronto Met) is a public university, public research university located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The university's core campus is situated within the Garden District, Toronto, Garden District, although it also operates facilities elsewhere in Toronto. Rogers Communications Centre
The Rogers Communications Centre is home to Toronto Metropolitan University's RTA School of Media, Professional Communications and Journalism programs, as well as the offices for the Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD). Completed in 1992, it is located at 80 Gould Street in downtown Toronto, Canada. There are 3 High Definition television studios (Studio A, B, and C) and multiple audio recording and video editing suites. The building is home to the Allan Slaight Radio Institute. The RCC is also home to the newsrooms for The Eyeopener and The Ryersonian. In November 2018 a new Creative Research Centre known as The Catalyst at FCAD opened on the 2nd floor of the RCC. Broadcasting
Broadcasting is the distribution (business), distribution of sound, audio or video content to a dispersed audience via any electronic medium (communication), mass communications medium, but typically one using the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves), in a :wikt:one-to-many, one-to-many model. Valerie Pringle
Valerie Pringle (née Whittingham, born 5 September 1953) is a Canadian television host and journalist, hosting the Canadian edition of ''Antiques Roadshow'' on CBC since 2006. Pringle was born in Windsor, Ontario. Pringle began her career in broadcasting as a summer student with Toronto radio station CFRB in 1973, and became a full-time reporter for the station the following year. In 1981, she hosted her own daily series on CFRB, ''The Pringle Program''. In 1984, Pringle moved to the CBC as one of the original cohosts of ''Midday''. She stayed with ''Midday'' until 1992, when she moved to CTV to co-host ''Canada AM''. Dave Devall
David Devall (born 1931) is a Canadian retired broadcaster and meteorologist. He served as the chief forecaster at CFTO-TV in Toronto for more than 48 years beginning in 1961, and was recognized as having had the "longest career as a weather forecaster" by Guinness World Records and the World Records Academy upon his retirement on April 3, 2009. Devall was also a recipient of the RTNDA's lifetime achievement award in 2009. Early life and career Devall was born, raised, and educated in Toronto (graduate of York Memorial Collegiate in the old City of York). Terry O'Reilly (born July 7, 1959) is a Canadian broadcast producer and personality, best known as host of the CBC Radio One series '' O'Reilly on Advertising'', ''The Age of Persuasion'', and most recently '' Under the Influence'' - which alone has received nearly 30 million podcast downloads. These programs examine the cultural and sociological impact of advertising and marketing on modern life.
