RK Metalurg Skopje
RK Metalurg Skopje ( mk, РК Металург Скопје) is a Macedonian handball club based in Skopje. They compete in the domestic Macedonian Handball Super League and EHF European League. History The club was founded in 1971 under patronage of the Skopje steel industry. There, an idea was born to form a team composed of employees that worked in the nearby steel mill. Nikola Bogdanovski accepted the idea after it was reviewed by the board of directors. Thus, RK Metalurg was created. The same concept realized by Bogdanovski continues to live today. At the time, the club didn't even think of playing in any of the European competitions, because they played their best not to be relegated from the first league. It's well worth mentioning that Metalurg in its first official match won against the team of RK Pirin with a score of 22–14. In 1974 the club created a youth team, led by Pustina Krešimir. Darko Stanić
Darko Stanić (; born 8 October 1978) is a Serbian/Qatari former handball player for the Al Rayyan and the Qatari national team. He was dubbed the "Minister of Defence" due to his performances for the Serbia. Club career After making his EHF Champions League debut with Crvena zvezda, Stanić moved abroad to Switzerland and joined TV Suhr in early 2005. He spent the next season at fellow Swiss club Grasshoppers. In April 2006, Stanić tested positive for cocaine after a play-off match with St. Gallen. He consequently received a six-month ban from handball. However, the ban was eventually extended for a period of two years, starting on 22 May 2006. After serving his two-year suspension, Stanić signed with Slovenian club Koper in May 2008. He spent three seasons in Slovenia, before moving to Macedonian side Metalurg Skopje. Dejan Manaskov
Dejan Manaskov ( mk, Дејан Манасков) (born 26 August 1992) is a Macedonian handball player for RK Eurofarm Pelister and the Macedonia men's national handball team, Macedonian national team. He is the older son of Pepi Manaskov. His brother, Martin Manaskov, is also a handball player. With Metalurg he won the championship and the cup 4 times. After Metalurg he moved to the prominent Bundesliga Wetzlar. He had a great season with Wetzlar. So next season RK Vardar brought the winger sniper in its superstar team. He had great season in Vardar winning both the cup and the championship and German Rhein-Necker immediately showed interest in bringing the winger sniper in Germany. Renato Vugrinec (born 9 June 1975) is a Slovenian-Macedonian retired handball player. Before switching his national team alliagance, Vugrinec was a long time member of Slovenia men's national handball team and represented the country on several international tournaments, including the 2000 and the 2004 Summer Olympics, before retiring from international play in 2010. Since March 2014 he became eligible to play for Macedonia national handball team, after receiving the country's citizenship in late 2013, and he has made his debut for their national team in June 2014.
