The R560 road is a Regional road (Ireland), regional road in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is a road on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. The road forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way. The R560 travels southwest from the N86 road (Ireland), N86 near Camp, County Kerry, Camp via Connor Pass between the Mount Brandon, Brandon and central Dingle mountain groups. The pass summit, at an elevation of , affords panoramic views of the Dingle area and Dingle Bay. From here, the road descends to end at Dingle. The R560 is long. The Wild Atlantic Way ( ga, Slí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin) is a tourism trail on the west coast, and on parts of the north and south coasts, of Ireland. The 2,500 km (1,553 mile) driving route passes through nine counties and three provinces, stretching from County Donegal's Inishowen Peninsula in Ulster to Kinsale, County Cork, in Munster, on the Celtic Sea coast. Dingle Bay (''Bá an Daingin'' in Irish) is a bay located in County Kerry, western Ireland. The outer parts of the Dingle Peninsula and Dingle Bay mark one of the westernmost points of mainland Ireland. The harbour town of Dingle lies on the north side of the bay. Geography The bay runs approximately from northeast to southwest into the Atlantic Ocean. It is approximately wide at the head, and wide at the entrance. It is flanked on the north by the Dingle Peninsula, and on the south by the Iveragh Peninsula. The River Maine enters the bay at its head. Mount Brandon
Mount Brandon or Brandon (), at , is one of the ten highest peaks in Ireland, being the 8th–highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin list, and the 9th–highest on the Vandeleur-Lynam list. Brandon is the highest Irish mountain outside the MacGillycuddy's Reeks range and has the greatest prominence of any Irish peak except Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest mountain. Mount Brandon is at the centre of a long high ridge called the Brandon Group range of mountains in the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry. The ridge contains seven other major peaks (i.e. above 2,000 ft in height); one is the similarly named Brandon Peak (840 metres). The positioning and dimensions of the Brandon Group ridge have made it the scene of several air accidents over the years. Connor Pass
Conor Pass or Connor Pass () is one of the highest Irish mountain passes served by an asphalted road. It is located on the R560 road in County Kerry, Ireland. Geography The high pass connects Dingle, on the south-western end of the Dingle Peninsula, with Brandon Bay and Castlegregory in the north-east. Access to the pass A twisty one-lane asphalted road leads to the pass. The drive is considered one of the most beautiful in Ireland. The scenic road leading to the pass weaves its way around the sharp cliff faces and past high corrie lakes. Vehicles over two tonnes in weight are prohibited from using the road in order to avoid difficulties in passing. Bicycle ascent to the pass is one of the most famous and difficult climbs in Ireland.
