Hartbeespoort
Hartbeespoort, informally also known as "Harties", is a small resort town in the North West Province of South Africa, situated on slopes of the Magaliesberg mountain and the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam. The name of the town means "gateway of the hartbees" (a species of antelope) in Afrikaans. Schoemansville, named after General Hendrik Schoeman, a Boer General in the Anglo-Boer War, who owned the farm that the Hartbeespoort Dam was built on, is the oldest neighbourhood of Hartbeespoort. Hartbeespoort is the collective name of a few smaller towns situated around the Hartbeespoort Dam, including the towns of Meerhof, Ifafi, Melodie, Schoemansville and Kosmos. The town consists of holiday homes and permanent residences around the dam as it is popular with visitors from nearby Gauteng Province. The R511 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Sandton (north of Johannesburg) with Thabazimbi via Hartbeespoort and Brits. It is an alternative route to the R512 for travel between the Johannesburg Metropole and Brits. Route Gauteng It begins as William Nicol Drive at its interchange with the N1 Highway ( Johannesburg Western Bypass) in Fourways, a suburb of Sandton, Johannesburg Metropole, Gauteng. South of the N1, the road is designated the M81. Heading north out of the city, it passes Montecasino, before crossing the R564 (Witkoppen Road). The R55 is a north-south provincial route in Gauteng, South Africa that connects Sandton with Pretoria. It passes Woodmead, Kyalami, Olievenhoutbosch, Heuweloord, Sunderland Ridge, Erasmia, Laudium/Claudius, West Park, the Daspoort Tunnel and Danville. It connects with the M1, N14, and R80 highways. The M1 road is a short metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects Pretoria West and the Pretoria CBD with Pretoria North via Mayville. It is an alternative route to the R101 Route for travel between Pretoria CBD and Pretoria North. Route The M1 route begins at a junction with the M2 route (Nana Sita Street; Charlotte Maxeke Street) and the western terminus of the M6 route (Visagie Street). It heads northwards as Es'kia Mphahlele Drive (formerly DF Malan Drive), separating Pretoria West in the west from Pretoria CBD in the east and meeting the R104 Route (WF Nkomo Street) and the M22 route at the next junction. The M8 road is a metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects Capital Park with Mamelodi via Gezina, Villieria and Eersterust. Route The M8 route begins at an interchange with the M1 route (E'skia Mphahlele Drive) and the eastern terminus of the R514 Route (Van Der Hoff Road) just east of the Hermanstad suburb. The M8 begins by heading eastwards, immediately crossing the Apies River and becoming two one-way streets (Trouw Street eastwards from the river and Flowers Street westwards to the river), passing through the suburb of Capital Park and meeting the R101 Route (Paul Kruger Street).
