The R505 is a Regional Route in South Africa. It connects Ottoshoop, North West Province in the north with Wesselsbron, Free State Province to the south. Route North West Its northern terminus is a junction with the R49 in the village of Ottoshoop, North West. From there it runs southwards for 50 km, past Bakerville, to Lichtenburg, where it reaches a junction with the R503 (Swart Street). The R505 joins the R503 and they are one road into the town centre as Swart Street eastwards, then as Nelson Mandela Drive southwards, to meet the R52 at the Gerrit Maritz Street junction. Wesselsbron
Wesselsbron is a small maize farming town 75 kilometres south of Bothaville in Free State province of South Africa. Town 32 km east of Hoopstad and 48 km north-west of Welkom. It was laid out in 1920 and became a municipality in 1936. Named after Commandant Cornelis J Wessels who was in command of the Siege of Kimberley from 13 October 1899 to 12 February 1900. Bron is Afrikaans for ‘source’, ‘spring’. Wesselsbron has a vast district which stretches from the Vet River in the south to the Vaal River in the north. The main cultivation is corn, but also wheat, sunflower and peanuts are cultivated. The grain silos of Senwes are the biggest silo complex in the Southern Hemisphere and can cope with the enormous amount of 275,000 tons of grain. The R503 is a Regional Route in North West, South Africa that connects Mahikeng with Klerksdorp via Lichtenburg and Coligny. Route The R503 begins in the town of Mahikeng, the capital of the North West, at a four-way-junction with the N18 National Route and the R49 Route. It goes south-east for 62 kilometres, forming the southern border of the Mafikeng Game Reserve, bypassing Itsoseng, to the town of Lichtenburg, where it enters in an easterly direction and meets the R505 Route. The R59 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Hertzogville with Alberton (south-east of Johannesburg) via Bothaville, Parys and Vereeniging. The R59 is a freeway from the R57 Junction in Sasolburg until the Alberton N12 Reading Interchange, signposted as the Sybrand van Niekerk Freeway. Route Free State The R59 begins at a t-junction with the R64 about 18 kilometres west of Dealesville. It heads north for 61 kilometres to the town of Hertzogville, where it meets the R708 at a t-junction next to the Palmietpan and they become co-signed northwards. Vaal River
The Vaal River ( ; Khoemana: ) is the largest tributary of the Orange River in South Africa. The river has its source near Breyten in Mpumalanga province, east of Johannesburg and about north of Ermelo and only about from the Indian Ocean. It then flows westwards to its conjunction with the Orange River southwest of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The N12 is a national route in South Africa which runs from George through Beaufort West, Kimberley, Klerksdorp and Johannesburg to eMalahleni. It is the only other National Route after the N1 Route that connects the Western Cape Province with the Gauteng Province. Prior to 1971, the N12 from Johannesburg to Three Sisters was known as the N13. Route Summary The road starts in George in the Western Cape and ends in eMalahleni in Mpumalanga. The road runs roughly from south to north, however, once it passes Kimberley in the Northern Cape, it gradually turns eastward. N14 Road (South Africa)
The N14 is a national route in South Africa which runs from Springbok in the Northern Cape to Pretoria in Gauteng. It passes through Upington, Kuruman, Vryburg, Krugersdorp and Centurion. The section between Pretoria and Krugersdorp is maintained by the Gauteng Provincial government and is also designated the P158, and is also a 4-lane dual carriageway with 2 lanes in each direction. Concurrency (road)
A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. Concurrent numbering can become very common in jurisdictions that allow it.
