Rüthi
Rüthi is a municipality in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. History Rüthi is first mentioned in 820 as ''Reuti''. Until 1994 it was known as ''Rüthi (Rheintal)''. Geography Rüthi has an area, , of . Of this area, 47.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 33.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 13.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (4.6%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes). The municipality was located in the Oberrheintal district until the creation of the Rheintal ''Wahlkreis''. It consists of the villages of Rüthi, Büchel and the Hirschensprung as well as the southern part of the hamlet of Rehag. Other villages were part of the municipality. From 1798 to 1831 the village of Kobelwald (later part of Oberriet) and from 1803 to 31 the village of Lienz (afterward part of Sennwald, then in 1883 part of Altstätten) were part of Rüthi. Oberriet is a municipality in the ''Wahlkreis'' (constituency) of Rheintal in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. History Oberriet is first mentioned in 891 as ''Cobolo''. About 1290 it was mentioned as ''Chobilwalt'' and in 1417 it was first mentioned as ''Oberriet''. Geography Oberriet has an area, , of . Of this area, 57.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 25.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 12.9% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (4.1%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes). The municipality is located in the Rheintal ''Wahlkreis''. The Wahlkreis Rheintal ( en, Rhine Valley) is a constituency (''Wahlkreis'') of the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, formed under the new constitution of the canton on 10 June 2001. The education system in Switzerland is very diverse, because the constitution of Switzerland delegates the authority for the school system mainly to the cantons. The Swiss constitution sets the foundations, namely that primary school is obligatory for every child and is free in state schools and that the confederation can run or support universities. The minimum age for primary school is about six years in all cantons but Obwalden, where it is five years and three months.
