Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Køge Municipality
Køge Municipality () is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') approx. 40 km southwest of Copenhagen. The municipality covers an area of 255 km² (98 sq. miles), and has a total population of 60,675 (2019). Until January 2007, its mayor was Torben Hansen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party, who died while still in office. Region Sjælland
Region Zealand ( da, Region Sjælland) is the southernmost administrative region of Denmark, established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, which abolished the traditional counties ("amter") and set up five larger regions. Zealand Region has 17 municipalities. Geography Zealand Region consists of the former counties of Roskilde, Storstrøm, and Vestsjælland. Faxe Municipality
Faxe municipality is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Denmark in Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand. The municipality covers an area of 406 km² and has a population of 35,418 (2008). Its mayor as of January 2018 is Ole Vive. He is a member of the agrarian liberal Venstre political party. On 1 January 2007 Faxe municipality, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), came into existence by merging the three former municipalities of Haslev, Fakse, and Rønnede. Geography On 5 June 2007, it was reported by national broadcaster Danmarks Radio that an unknown hill near Rønnede (town), named Kobanke, has the highest natural point of terrain, 122.9 meters (403.2 ft) on Sjælland. Fladså
Fladså was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Storstrøm County in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 133 km², and had a total population of 7,581 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans R. Hansen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The seat of its municipal council was at . Neighboring municipalities were Rønnede to the east, Holmegaard to the north, Næstved to the west, and Præstø and Vordingborg to the south. Fakse Bay (''Fakse Bugt'') made up part of the municipality's eastern border, and Karrebæksminde Bay (''Karrebæksminde Bugt'' made up part of the municipality's western border. Holmegaard
Until 1 January 2007, Holmegaard was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Storstrøm County in the southern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 66 km2, and had a total population of 7,442 (2005). Its last mayor was Søren Dysted, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Fensmark. The municipality was created in 1966 when the following parishes were combined: Fensmark-Rislev Parish and Holme-Olstrup Parish. As the result of ("Municipality Reform") in 1970, Toksværd Parish was incorporated into Holmegaard municipality, and Rislev Parish was incorporated into Næstved municipality. Vallø
Vallø was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Roskilde County on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in East Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 84 km2, and had a total population of 10,337 (2005). Its last mayor was Poul Arne Nielsen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. Fakse
Faxe or Fakse is a town on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. It is located in Faxe Municipality in Region Zealand. The town is most known for the Faxe Brewery, Royal Unibrew, a relatively large brewery producing a range of beer and soft drinks, soda, energy drinks, Faxe Kondi and many more and so on. On the edge of town lies a big limestone quarry (1 km2), Faxe Quarry owned by Faxe Kalk, The Faxe Quarry have had their own narrow track railway but it was shut down many years ago owned by Faxe Kalk. Haribo Licorice (“Haribo Lakrids A/S”) was also founded in Faxe in 1935. History The name ''Faxe'' is Old Norse and means " horse mane", probably a reference to its location on a long hill. Statistics Denmark
Statistics Denmark ( da, Danmarks Statistik) is a Danish governmental organization under the Ministry of the Interior and Housing and which reports to the Minister of Economic and Internal Affairs. The organization is responsible for creating statistics on the Danish society, for example employment statistics, trade balance, and demographics. Statistics Denmark makes large use of public registers in the statistical production. Population censuses have been produced entirely from registers since 1981. StatBank is a large statistical database maintained by the central authority of statistics in Denmark. Online distribution of statistics has been a part of the dissemination strategy in Denmark since 1985. It is updated every day at 9.00 am (CET) and contains all new statistics.
