Rönesans Rezidans
Rönesans Rezidans (Renaissance Residence) was a residential building in Ekinci, Antakya. It was the first luxury apartment in Hatay Province. On 6 February 2023, it was destroyed as a result of the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake. The building was constructed between 2011 and 2012 as Hatay Province's first luxury apartment complex, and was the home of many well-off residents of Antakya. It was created by Antis Yapı, a company that has been around for several decades. During its collapse following the first earthquake, it is believed to have trapped or killed at least over 800 people. It has been noted that the structure of the building was strong and that it did not collapse but rather was pushed over by the earthquake as Dr. Ahmet Ercan puts it. Floating Raft System
Floating raft is a land-based building foundation that protects it against settlement and liquefaction of soft soil from seismic activity. It was a necessary innovation in the development of tall buildings in the wet soil of Chicago in the 19th century, when it was developed by John Wellborn Root who came up with the idea of interlacing the concrete slab with steel beams. Taner Savut
Taner Savut (10 August 1974 – 6 February 2023) was a Turkish sporting director and footballer who played as a right back. Playing career Born in İzmir, Savut began his career at hometown club İzmirspor in 1994 before joining Fenerbahçe in 1997. He played his sole European match on 29 September that year as the team lost 2–1 at home to Steaua București in the UEFA Cup first round. In 1999 he moved to fellow Süper Lig team Göztepe and a year later Siirtspor, where he scored his only goal of 71 top-flight appearances, concluding a 3–0 home win over Gençlerbirliği on 6 May 2001. Christian Atsu
Christian Atsu Twasam (10 January 1992 – ) was a Ghanaian professional footballer who primarily played as a winger, although he was also deployed as an attacking midfielder or left back. Atsu began his career with Porto, also spending a season on loan at Rio Ave. In 2013, he was signed by Chelsea for £3.5 million, who subsequently loaned him to Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, AFC Bournemouth and Málaga. After spending the 2016–17 season on loan at Newcastle United, he completed a permanent transfer to the club in May 2017. 1995 Kobe Earthquake
The , or Kobe earthquake, occurred on January 17, 1995, at 05:46:53 JST (January 16 at 20:46:53 UTC) in the southern part of Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, including the region known as Hanshin. It measured 6.9 on the moment magnitude scale and had a maximum intensity of 7 on the JMA Seismic Intensity Scale (XI on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale). The tremors lasted for approximately 20 seconds. The focus of the earthquake was located 17 km beneath its epicenter, on the northern end of Awaji Island, 20 km away from the center of the city of Kobe. ''BirGün'' (''One Day'') is an Istanbul-based Turkish left-wing daily. The paper was founded in 2004 by a group of Turkish intellectuals. The most important point of the newspaper is that it is not owned by any parent company or conglomerate.
