''RökFlöte'' is the 23rd studio album by the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull, released on 21 April 2023. It is a follow-up to ''The Zealot Gene'' (2022), and marks the shortest gap between two Jethro Tull albums since ''Stormwatch'' (1979) and '' A'' (1980). Background On 17 November 2022, on Jethro Tull's Facebook page, Ian Anderson announced that they were working on their next studio album and that it would be released in Spring of 2023 stating that Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief had just finished Surround Sound Mix and Alternate Stereo Mixes of the album. The album mostly revolves around the characters, roles, and principal gods in Norse Paganism, as well as "Rock Flute". The name of the album comes from "Rock Flute" as the original idea was to make an album of mostly instrumental flute music. Joe Parrish
Joseph Parrish-James əriʃ-dʒeɪmz(born 1995 in Bedfordshire, England) is a British guitarist of the bands Albion and Jethro Tull. Early life and education Parrish found his love for music at the age of three and learned to play the guitar at the age of six. In his childhood, he listened to Deep Purple, Steeleye Span, and later Iron Maiden. Joe studied composition and arrangement at the London College of Music. Career Early career After graduating, Parrish arranged and composed for classical ensembles (orchestra and string quartet). His biggest influences are Vaughan Williams, Warlock, Dmitri Shostakovich and Igor Stravinsky. Ongoing Parrish joined Jethro Tull as their lead guitarist in 2019. Alto Flute
The alto flute is an instrument in the Western concert flute family, the second-highest member below the standard C flute after the uncommon flûte d'amour. It is the third most common member of its family after the standard C flute and the piccolo. It is characterized by its rich, mellow tone in the lower portion of its range. Unlike the flute and piccolo, it is a transposing instrument in G (a perfect fourth below written C), although it uses the same fingerings as the C flute. The bore of the alto flute is considerably larger in diameter and longer than a C flute and requires more breath from the player. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). In recent years digital masters have become usual, although analog masters—such as audio tapes—are still being used by the manufacturing industry, particularly by a few engineers who specialize in analog mastering. Hammond Organ
The Hammond organ is an electric organ invented by Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert and first manufactured in 1935. Multiple models have been produced, most of which use sliding drawbars to vary sounds. Until 1975, Hammond organs generated sound by creating an electric current from rotating a metal tonewheel near an electromagnetic pickup, and then strengthening the signal with an amplifier to drive a speaker cabinet. The organ is commonly used with the Leslie speaker. Around two million Hammond organs have been manufactured. The organ was originally marketed by the Hammond Organ Company to churches as a lower-cost alternative to the wind-driven pipe organ, or instead of a piano. David Goodier
David Goodier (born 1954) is an English musician. He has been the bassist for the rock band Jethro Tull from 2007 until the band went on a hiatus in 2012, and again from 2017 when Ian Anderson started to tour again using the Jethro Tull name, with Goodier and keyboardist John O'Hara the only former Jethro Tull members to join Anderson. Jethro Tull's 2022 album ''The Zealot Gene'', their first in 19 years, marked Goodier's first appearance on a Jethro Tull studio recording. Goodier has appeared with many artists from the world of jazz, pop and rock and also worked extensively in theatre pit bands. Since 2002, he has been touring worldwide with Ian Anderson. Mandolin
A mandolin ( it, mandolino ; literally "small mandola") is a stringed musical instrument in the lute family and is generally plucked with a pick. It most commonly has four courses of doubled strings tuned in unison, thus giving a total of 8 strings, although five (10 strings) and six (12 strings) course versions also exist. There are of course different types of strings that can be used, metal strings are the main ones since they are the cheapest and easiest to make.
