Rômulo (footballer, Born 1990)
Rômulo Borges Monteiro (born 19 September 1990), known simply as Rômulo, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Retrô. Rômulo is known for his defensive abilities and initiation of attacks from the back, "He tracks his runner well and judges his tackles with composure" and is not scared to get forward. Club career Spartak Moscow Rômulo signed for Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2012 for a fee of around €8 million. He missed one-and-a-half seasons due to an injury against FC Rostov. Rômulo left Spartak Moscow on 13 January 2017, after both agreed to the mutual termination of his contract. Flamengo On 13 January 2017 Rômulo signed with Brazilian Série A club Flamengo a four-year contract. FC Rostov (russian: link=no, Футбольный клуб Ростов) is a Russian professional football club based in Rostov-on-Don, Rostov Oblast. The club are members of the Russian Premier League, and play at the Rostov Arena. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Club Association suspended the team. History 1930-1989 The club was established on 10 May 1930, and was initially named Selmashstroy (Сельмашстрой). They were renamed Selmash in 1936 and Traktor in 1941. 2013–14 FC Spartak Moscow Season
The 2013–14 Spartak Moscow season was their 22nd season in the Russian Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Russia. They finished the season in 6th, reached the Round of 16 in the Russian Cup and were knocked out 2013–14 UEFA Europa League at the playoff stage by St. Gallen. Season events On 18 March, Valeri Karpin left his role as manager of Spartak, with Dmitri Gunko being placed in temporary charge. On 2 April, Gunko was announced as the club's manager until the end of the season. Following the conclusion of the season, Russian Cup winners FC Rostov were excluded from the 2014-15 Europa League due to financial issues, with Spartak being appointed their replacement. However the decision was later overturned but CAS and Rostov took their place in the Europa League. The 2012–13 Spartak Moscow season was the club's 21st season in the Russian Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Russia. They finished the season in fourth place, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League; reached the round of 16 in the Russian Cup; and were knocked out 2012–13 UEFA Champions League at the group stage. Spartak started the season under the management of Unai Emery, who they appointed as manager in June 2012 after Valery Karpin resigned following the completion of the previous season.
