Río Grande De Jayuya
The Río Grande de Jayuya is a river of Jayuya and Utuado, Puerto Rico. It is a tributary to the Río Grande de Arecibo river. History This was the favorite river and playtime spot of Griselio Torresola as a child. In his later life, Griselio became a Puerto Rican nationalist and was one of the would-be assassins of U.S. President Harry S. Truman in 1950. Paso Palma is a barrio in the municipality of Utuado, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 582. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. Utuado, Puerto Rico
Utuado () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the central mountainous region of the island known as the '' Cordillera Central''. It is located north of Adjuntas and Ponce; south of Hatillo and Arecibo; east of Lares; and west of Ciales and Jayuya. It is the third-largest municipality in land area in Puerto Rico (after Arecibo and Ponce). According to the 2020 US Census, the municipality has a population of 28,287 spread over 24 barrios and Utuado pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). Dos Bocas Lake
Dos Bocas Lake is a lake located in the municipalities of Arecibo and Utuado on the island of Puerto Rico. The lake was created from 1937 until it was completed in 1942 with the construction of the Dos Bocas Dam, by the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority for a hydroelectric power plant. The building of the dam was a New Deal project. It also serves as one of the island's potable water reservoirs. In recent years, silt has accumulated in the lake causing capacity to shrink. Silt has also made some portions of the land inaccessible by boat. Ferries operated by the Department of Transportation of Puerto Rico provide transportation for residents on Lago Dos Bocas as well as for tourists. Several restaurants are located on the shore of the lake. Other nearby attractions include the Río Abajo State Forest. Taíno is an extinct Arawakan language that was spoken by the Taíno people of the Caribbean. At the time of Spanish contact, it was the most common language throughout the Caribbean.
