Régine Pernoud
Régine Pernoud (17 June 1909, Château-Chinon, Nièvre – 22 April 1998, Paris) was a French historian and archivist. Career In 1929, she obtained a '' baccalauréat universitaire ès lettres'' (BA) at the University of Aix-en-Provence. She moved to Paris where she entered the École nationale des chartes which she left in 1933 with a diploma as an archivist-paleographer. In 1935, she was awarded a doctorate in medieval history from the Sorbonne. Having grown up in an impoverished family, she worked in various professions (including as a teacher, a coach, and an archivist) while completing her university studies and while waiting for a post in a museum. She later became curator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Reims, in 1947, at the Museum of the History of France in 1949, at the National Archives, and at the Centre of Joan of Arc (which she had founded in 1974 at the request of André Malraux). Georges Alexis Denis Marie Pernoud (11 August 1947 – 10 January 2021) was a French journalist, television presenter and television producer. He is known for presenting his television documentary ''Thalassa'', that he presented from 1980 to 2017. Life and career Family and personal life Georges Pernoud was born on 11 April 1947 in Rabat, during the second French colonial empire, and more precisely in the French Protectorate in Morocco. His full name is Georges Alexis Denis Marie Pernoud, and he signed his first publications under the name of "Georges Alexis Pernoud". He was from a journalist's family, by his father René and his uncle Georges. His aunts are the historian Régine Pernoud and the literature director Laurence Pernoud. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). The plural ''women'' is sometimes used in certain phrases such as "women's rights" to denote female humans regardless of age. Typically, women inherit a pair of X chromosomes, one from each parent, and are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. More generally, sex differentiation of the female fetus is governed by the lack of a present, or functioning, SRY-gene on either one of the respective sex chromosomes. Jean Gimpel
Jean Gimpel (10 October 1918 – 15 June 1996) was a French historian and medievalist. Gimpel was one of three sons of a French father, the art dealer René Gimpel, and an English mother, Florence, the youngest sister of Lord Duveen. Gimpel was brought up in luxury in a house in the Bois de Boulogne, though he went on to be educated in both France and Britain. He made his living as a diamond broker before establishing himself as a critic of the concept of the great artist.
