Råde Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Råde, Østfold. It has sections for association football, race walking, team handball, floorball, tennis, volleyball, speed skating and skiing. History The club was founded on 29 March 1929 as ''Råde SK''. It changed its name to Råde IL on 1 March 1946. It formerly had sections for badminton, basketball, gymnastics, track and field and orienteering. The men's football team currently plays in the Fifth Division, the sixth tier of Norwegian football. It last played in the Norwegian Second Division in 1999. Former players include Øystein Drillestad, Leif Andersen, Bjørnar Johannessen, Jon André Fredriksen and Vidar Martinsen. Råde
Råde is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Karlshus. The parish of ''Raade'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The neighbouring municipalities are Rygge, Våler, Sarpsborg, and Fredrikstad. There are four major villages in the municipality: Karlshus, Saltnes, Missingmyr, and Slangsvold. General information Name The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old ''Råde'' farm (Old Norse: ''Róða''), since the first church was built here. The name is identical with the word ''róða'' which means "bar, pole, or rod". Here it is referring to one of Norway's many terminal moraines, and the farm and the church named after it. 1999 Norwegian Second Division
The 1999 2. divisjon was the third highest football league for men in Norway. 22 games were played in 8 groups, with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Hamarkameratene, Sandefjord, Strindheim and Tromsdalen were promoted to the First Division through playoffs against the other 4 group winners. Kai Erik Herlovsen (born 25 September 1959) is a Norway, Norwegian Association football, football coach and former player. Herlovsen was usually used in the central Defender (association football), defence or as a defensive midfielder. Bjørnar Johannessen (born 23 September 1977) is a retired Norwegian football midfielder who manages Kråkerøy IL. He started his career in Vesterøy, and went on to Lisleby, Råde and Eik-Tønsberg. He then joined Fredrikstad FK, and helped win promotion to the Norwegian Premier League. He got eighteen Premier League games in 2004 without scoring. Ahead of the 2005 season he joined Sparta Sarpsborg, and ahead of the 2008 season he joined Moss FK. He joined Sarpsborg 08 Sarpsborg 08 Fotballforening, commonly known as Sarpsborg 08 or simply Sarpsborg (), is a Norwegian football club based in Sarpsborg, playing in Eliteserien. Leif Andersen
Leif Andersen (born 19 April 1971) is a Norwegian retired professional footballer who played as a defender. He spent most of his career in Norwegian domestic football, but also spent one-and-a-half seasons with English Football League club Crystal Palace. Playing career Andersen began his youth career with Rade before signing with Kongsvinger in 1992. In 1993, he moved to Moss FK and in January 1996 signed for English club Crystal Palace, at that time playing in the Football League Championship. He went on to make 16 appearances in the second half of the season without scoring and a further 14 appearances (one goal) in the 1996–97 season, at the end of which Palace were promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs. Norwegian Second Division
The Norwegian Second Division, also called 2. divisjon and often referred to as PostNord-ligaen for sponsorship reasons, is the third-highest level of the Norwegian football league system. There are 28 teams divided into two groups, and at the end of the season the winner of each group earns promotion to the second-highest division, 1. divisjon. The teams finishing in second place in their respective group will qualify for the promotion play-offs, where they will face each other. The winner will play against the 14th placed team in 1. divisjon for promotion. The bottom three teams in each group are relegated to 3. divisjon. 2. divisjon is the highest league a reserve team can participate in, and only reserve teams from the Eliteserien clubs (first tier) are allowed to enter.
