Rygene Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Rykene, Aust-Agder. It has sections for association football, team handball and Nordic skiing. It was founded on 23 November 1933 as ''Rygene AIL'', and was a member of the Workers' Confederation of Sports. Rykene
Rykene or Rygene is a village located along the river Nidelva in Agder county, Norway. The village is primarily located in Arendal municipality, but a small portion of the village lies across the river in the neighboring municipality of Grimstad. Rykene is located about north of the town of Grimstad and about the same distance south of the city of Arendal. Historically, the village grew up due to its close proximity to forests as the timber was floated down river to the sawmills in Rykene. The village of Lindtveit lies about to the northwest, the village of Løddesøl lies about to the north, the village of Gjennestad lies about to the northeast. Aust-Agder
Aust-Agder (, en, "East Agder") was a county (''fylke'') in Norway until 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Vest-Agder to form Agder county. The Workers' Federation of Sports ( no, Arbeidernes Idrettsforbund), often just called the AIF, was a sporting organization in Norway between 1924 and 1946.Heinemann, Klaus.
