Ryde Road
Ryde Road is an arterial road in Sydney, Australia. Ryde Road is a long road that forms a part of Sydney's A3. Ryde Road commences at its junction with the Pacific Highway, between Pymble and Gordon. It connects through a tunnel under the Pacific Highway, to Mona Vale Road. Ryde Road runs to the south-west across a gully, and then to the south, through the suburb of West Pymble. Ryde Road terminates at the intersection of Lady Game Drive, and adjacent to the De Burghs Bridge crossing the Lane Cove River, where the A3 continues as Lane Cove Road. Ryde Road forms the only road connection between the Ku-ring-gai and Ryde local government areas, and is one of only four road crossings of the Lane Cove River. It is often a traffic bottleneck. A3 (Sydney)
The A3 is a major metropolitan arterial route in Sydney, formerly designated Metroad 3. The A3 runs from its intersection with the A8 at Mona Vale at the north end, to the southerly of its two intersections with the A1, Princes Highway, at Blakehurst. The highest speed limit on the A3 is on Mona Vale Road. It is a major connector between most of the major radial routes emanating from central Sydney, and a major link between the northern and southern parts of the Sydney tolled orbital freeway. It is the most direct, although not necessarily the quickest, route across Sydney between the South Coast and the North Coast. It is one of only three road connections between the Northern Beaches region of Sydney and the rest of Sydney (the other two being route A38 (Warringah Road) and the A8. Pymble is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Pymble is north of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. West Pymble is a separate suburb to the south west of Pymble, adjacent to the Lane Cove National Park. Pymble is notable for its gardens, bush reserves and heritage-listed residences and properties of architectural significance, such as the Eric Pratten House. Lane Cove Road
Lane Cove Road is a major suburban arterial road in Sydney, Australia. It forms part of A3 and is located in the Ryde local government area. The southern end of Lane Cove Road connects with Devlin Street at Blaxland Road at Top Ryde, about one kilometre north of Victoria Road. Lane Cove Road extends generally NNE, crossing Epping Road at a grade separated intersection at North Ryde, and partly connecting with the M2 Hills Motorway. Lane Cove Road ends north of De Burghs Bridge and where the A3 crosses the Lane Cove River, entering into the Ku-ring-gai local government area. West Pymble, New South Wales
West Pymble is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia north-west of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. Pymble is a separate suburb to the east, sharing the postcode of 2073. History The land on which West Pymble was built was Guringai country, until European arrival brought disease which greatly reduced the population. By 1824, Aboriginal people in the area had been reduced to 'the remains of an Aboriginal tribe', who periodically walked through the area on their way from Bobbin Head to Pymble Hill. Early European settler Robert Pymble told his grandchildren that the Aboriginal people had gone by 1856. Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. The highway and its adjoining Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and Brunswick Heads and Pacific Motorway between Sydney and Newcastle links the state capitals of Sydney in New South Wales with Brisbane in Queensland, approximately paralleling the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean coast, via Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Ballina. Gordon is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia north-west of the Sydney Central Business District and is the administrative centre for the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. De Burghs Bridge
De Burghs Bridge is a road bridge that carries the Lane Cove Road, part of the A3, across the Lane Cove River in Macquarie Park, Sydney, Australia. The bridge stretches from Macquarie Park in the south to West Pymble in the north. History The current De Burghs Bridge is the second bridge with this name to cross the Lane Cove River in this area. First bridge The first bridge with this name was designed in 1899 by Ernest de Burgh, after whom the bridge is named, and was opened on 23 February 1901. It was situated downstream from the current bridge, within metres at the southern end, and about away from the current bridge at the northern end.
