Ryan Murphy (born March 31, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing with Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He was originally drafted in the first round, 12th overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Murphy was selected by the Kitchener Rangers third overall in the 2009 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Bantam Draft. He began his first season as a 16-year-old and led the OHL in rookie defencemen scoring, scoring 39 points in 62 games playing on a defensive pairing with Columbus Blue Jackets first-rounder John Moore. He followed up his stellar rookie campaign by helping the Rangers proceed to the third round of the OHL playoffs with 17 points in 20 games, leading the Rangers in defence scoring. Carolina Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes (colloquially known as the Canes) are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference, and play their home games at PNC Arena. The franchise was formed in 1971 as the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association (WHA). John Carroll Moore Jr. (born November 19, 1990) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the first round, 21st overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Early life John Carroll Moore Jr. was born on November 19, 1990, in Winnetka, Illinois. Jay Harrison (born November 3, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes and the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League. The 2012–13 NHL season was the 96th season of operation (95th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). The regular season began on January 19, 2013 and ended on April 28, 2013, with the playoffs to follow until June. The season start was delayed from its original October 11, 2012 date due to a lockout imposed by the NHL franchise owners after the expiration of the league's collective bargaining agreement (CBA). In ice hockey, the captain is the player designated by a team as the only person authorized to speak with the game officials regarding rule interpretations when the captain is on the ice. At most levels of play each team must designate one captain and a number of alternate captains (usually two or three) who speak to the officials when the captain is on the bench. Captains wear a "C" on their sweaters, while alternate captains wear an "A". Niagara IceDogs
The Niagara IceDogs are a major junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League based in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The franchise was originally known as the Mississauga IceDogs and founded in 1996. The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Final four games to two to win the team's first Stanley Cup in their second Stanley Cup final appearance; they had lost to Montreal Canadiens in the 1993 Finals.
