Ryan Hargrave
Ryan Hargrave (born 26 July 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He played for the Western Bulldogs. He was a defender who was drafted with pick 66 in the 1999 AFL Draft from the Perth Football Club. Though born in Melbourne, Hargrave's family returned to Perth WA when he was 1 year old. Throughout 2002 he grew and developed as a defender and became an essential part of the Western Bulldogs' defence. In the same year, Hargrave was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award. Hargrave also won the Western Bulldogs' Best First Year Player award in 2002. Hargrave was also selected in the Western Australia State of Origin team of 2005. In 2003, Hargrave was fined $2,000 and suspended for three weeks by the tribunal after a retaliatory punch Heath Black during a melee against the St Kilda Saints. The St Kilda Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Melbourne, Victoria. Stephen George "Steve" Hargrave (born 27 June 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) for Footscray and the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) for . He was a member of Perth's 1976 and 1977 WANFL premiership winning sides. Hargrave's son, Ryan Hargrave has played over 200 games for the Bulldogs since 2002. After retiring as a player, Hargrave was the coach of South Fremantle in 1991 and then moved into football administration. Brendan McCartney
Brendan McCartney (born 23 October 1960) is the former senior coach of the Western Bulldogs football club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He coached 66 games in 3 seasons before he resigned from the job. He has served as the development and strategy coach of the Melbourne Football Club since 2015. Playing career In his playing days, Brendan McCartney played in the Geelong Football League for the Newtown & Chilwell Football Club. He is one of the few AFL coaches who never played at the highest level. His father, Graeme McCartney, played one senior game with Richmond in 1957. Heath Black (born 28 May 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fremantle and St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL). Football career Noted for his speed and long left foot kicking, Black was recruited with the 12th selection in the 1996 AFL Draft and began his career with Fremantle in 1997. When not selected to play for Fremantle in the AFL he played for South Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and was a member of their 1997 WAFL Premiership winning side. Perth Football Club
The Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Demons, is an Australian rules football club based in Lathlain, Western Australia, currently playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Representing the south-east area of the Perth metropolitan region, the club currently trains and plays its home games at Lathlain Park (currently known, for sponsorship reasons, as Mineral Resources Park), having previously played at the WACA Ground between 1899 and 1958 and later in 1987 and 1988. The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year. The award was sponsored by Norwich Union Australia from its inception in 1993 until 2000. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition.
