Ryan Gibbons (American Football)
Ryan Gibbons (born March 13, 1983) is a former American football offensive guard in the National Football League for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Northeastern. Early years Gibbons attended Marshfield High School, where he lettered in football and golf. He graduated in 2001. He accepted a football scholarship from Northeastern University. As a redshirt freshman, he appeared in 12 games with 4 starts, splitting time with Tim Dwyer as the starting left tackle. As a sophomore, he started all 12 games, contributing to the team setting a school record with 5,182 total offense yards. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. Frankfurt Galaxy (NFL Europe)
The Frankfurt Galaxy were a professional American football team that originally played in the World League of American Football and later in the resurrected NFL Europe. The team was based in Frankfurt, Germany and played in the Commerzbank-Arena, formerly called Waldstadion. The Galaxy was the only team in the league to have remained in operation and in the same city throughout the league's existence. As of 2021, an unrelated team of the same name plays in the European League of Football. History In 1991, the Galaxy was a founding member of the World League of American Football ( WLAF). World Bowl XV
World Bowl XV, officially known as Yello Strom World Bowl XV, was NFL Europa's 2007 championship game, and the final game in the league's history. It was played at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday, June 23, 2007. The defending World Bowl champion Frankfurt Galaxy (7–3) hosted the Hamburg Sea Devils (7–3) in their own home stadium. The game marked the third time that Frankfurt hosted the World Bowl.
