Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Center
The Chao Center is a building on the campus of Harvard Business School which is one of 14 schools within Harvard University. in the Allston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. and across the street from the Harvard School of Engineering opening in 2020. Overview The building was named in honor of Ruth Mulan Chu Chao. Its construction was completed in 2016. "The building will be constructed in part with a $40-million gift from the Dr. James Si-Cheng Chao and Family Foundation. The Chao family, which honors its matriarch with the donation, made its gift in 2012. They also established the Ruth Mulan Chu and James S. C. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao
Ruth Mulan Chu Chao (; March 19, 1930 – August 2, 2007) was the matriarch of a Chinese-American philanthropic family. In 2016, Harvard Business School dedicated the Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Center in her honor, making it the first building at the business school named for a woman and an Asian American. Four of Chao's six daughters attended the business school, including former United States Secretary of Labor and Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao. Personal life Chu Mulan (or Mulan Chu) was born on March 19, 1930, in Anhui, China, daughter of the Honorable Vei Ching Chu () and Hui Ying Tien Chu (). She was named for the Chinese folklore heroine, Hua Mulan, the legendary warrior representing qualities of character, courage, and resolve. Elaine Chao
Elaine Lan Chao (born March 26, 1953) is an American businesswoman and former government official. A member of the Republican Party, she served as the 18th United States secretary of transportation in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2021, and as the 24th United States secretary of labor in the George W. Bush administration from 2001 to 2009. Chao was the first Asian American woman ever to serve in a presidential cabinet. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Chao immigrated to the United States when she was eight years old. Her father founded the Foremost Group, which eventually became a major shipping corporation. The Baker Library/Bloomberg Center is a building complex at Harvard Business School on the campus of Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. McCollum Hall
McCollum Hall is a historic building block that was an entertainment venue in Fort Myers, Florida. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a site on Florida's Black Heritage Trail. It included a gas station and was listed in ''The Negro Motorist Green Book'' guide for African Americans. Murals are now next to it. A rope line segregated the upstairs area where performances and dancing were located. It was "at the heart" of Fort Myers' Dunbar Community. It is at 2701 Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
