Ruth Gbagbi
Ruth Marie Christelle Gbagbi (born 7 February 1994 in Abidjan) is an Ivorian taekwondo practitioner. She competed in the 67 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics; she was defeated by Hwang Kyung-Seon in the preliminary round and eliminated by Helena Fromm in the repechage contest. In the 2016 Summer Olympics, she defeated Farida Azizova to win the bronze medal. 2015 African Games
The 11th African Games took place from September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. This edition marked the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965. Host awarding Ghana, Kenya and Congo all showed interest in bidding for the 11th edition of the Games. On September 14, 2011, the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa awarded the rights to Brazzaville to host. Name change In January 2012 during the Executive Council meeting of the African Union held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia was taken a decision for the name change from All-Africa Games to African Games. The 11th edition of Brazzaville 2015 started under this new name. Opening ceremony The opening ceremony was held on 4 September 2015 at the newly built Kintele Stadium. The 2018 World Taekwondo Grand Slam is the 2nd edition of the World Taekwondo Grand Slam series taking place from 12-16 December in Wuxi, China. Helena Fromm
Helena Fromm (born 5 August 1987 in Oeventrop, West Germany) is a German taekwondo athlete. Representing Germany at the 2007 World Taekwondo Championships in Beijing, China, she won the bronze medal in the welterweight (–67 kg) division. In 2008, she participated in the European Taekwondo Championships in Rome, Italy, and won the gold medal in the welterweight division, winning over Gwladys Épangue of France in the final. Fromm represented her country in the –67 kg class at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Taekwondo At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's 67 Kg
The women's 67 kg competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held on 10 August, at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre. Competition format The main bracket consisted of a single elimination tournament, culminating in the gold medal match. Two bronze medals were awarded at the Taekwondo competitions. A repechage was used to determine the bronze medal winners. Every competitor who lost to one of the two finalists competed in the repechage, another single-elimination competition. Each semifinal loser faced the last remaining repechage competitor from the opposite half of the bracket in a bronze medal match.
