Rutger Macklier
Friherre Rutger Maclean I (1688–1748) or Rutger Macklean I was an officer of Charles XII of Sweden who participated in Battle of Holowczyn, Battle of Poltava and Battle of Tobolsk in the Great Northern War. Biography He was the son of David Makeléer, the first governor of Älvsborg County in Sweden. He studied in England. He married Vilhelmina Eleonora Coyet, who was 30 years younger than him, and they had at least four children: *Baron David Macklean *Rutger Macklean II (1742–1816) who was a central figure in land reform in Sweden in the late 18th and early 19th centuries *Eleonora Charlotta Macklean (1744–1777) born on 12 June 1744 in Svaneholm * Gustaf Macklean, when Gustav III of Sweden was murdered, Gustaf hid one of the murderers at his farm Brodda, nearby Svaneholm. Rutger Macklean II
Rutger Macklean (28 July 1742 – 14 January 1816) also Rutger Macklier II was a Swedish jurist, military officer, politician and land owner. He was a driving figure in the introduction of Swedish agricultural land reforms (''Enskiftet'') which made possible large-scale farming with its economy of scale. Biography Macklean was born on 28 July 1742 at Ström Manor, Hjärtum parish, Bohuslän to Baron Rutger Macklier (1688–1748) and Vilhelmina Eleonora Coyet (1719–1778). He became a student at Lund University in 1757 and graduated with a law degree in 1759. After completing his law degree, he served at the High Court in Jönköping. He became a sergeant in the Holstein regiment in 1763, in 1770 quartermaster and a cornet, and in 1771 a lieutenant in the Jämtland cavalry company and in 1776 the captain of the Kalmar regiment and a commander in the Uppvidinge company. Count Rutger von Ascheberg (2 June 1621 – 17 April 1693), also known as Roger von Ascheberg was a soldier, officer and civil servant in Swedish service, being appointed Lieutenant General in 1670, General in 1674, Field Marshal in 1678, Governor General of the Scanian provinces, in 1680, and Royal Councilor in 1681. Biography Ascheberg was born on the estate Berbonen (Perbohnen) in Courland (today part of Latvia) on 2 June 1621. He was of an old Westphalian family that had emigrated to Courland in the 16th century. His parents were Wilhelm von Ascheberg and Margaretha von der Osten. Thirty Years' War At the age of 13 he served as page for Colonel Brink of the Swedish army fighting in the Thirty Years' War in Germany. Sir Archibald Acheson of Glencairn, Lord Glencairn, 1st Baronet (1583 – 9 September 1634), was a Scottish jurist. Biography Acheson was the son of Captain Patrick Acheson and Martha Drummond. On 31 March 1620, "Archibald Acheson, a Scotchman", was knighted at Theobalds by King James I, and in 1621 he was appointed Master in Chancery of Ireland. Sometime before 25 October 1626 he was appointed a Lord of Session of Scotland as 'Lord Glencairn'. On 21 October 1627, he was appointed by King Charles I as Royal Secretary of State of Scotland. On 1 January 1628, he was made a Baronet of Nova Scotia. Lord Glencairn died at Letterkenny, County Donegal, in the west of Ulster in September 1634. Sir Hector Og Maclean (1583–1623), or Eachann Óg Maclean in Scottish Gaelic, was the 15th Clan Chief of Clan Maclean in Scotland. Early years He was born in 1583, the son of Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean the 14th Clan Chief. His father, Sir Lachlan, was killed in the Battle of Traigh Ghruinneart. Sir John Maclean, 1st Baronet, (1604 – 7 July 1666) also known as John Makeléer or Hans Makeléer in Sweden, was Lord of Gåsevadholm, and Hageby and Hammarö. He lived in Gothenburg, Sweden.
