Russian-Tajik Slavonic University
Russian-Tajik Slavonic University (RTSU), also known as Russian-Tajik University (), is a university in Tajikistan located in Dushanbe. University was result of cooperation of Russian and Tajik governments. The majority of the students come from Russian families living in Tajikistan and the others are from Tajik and Uzbek families. The university is a member of the Euroasian Universities Association (EUA). Besides being Russian-Tajik the university has students in many nationalities including Armenian, Georgian, Ukrainian and others from Post-Soviet states. History It was established in 1996 as one of the branches of the University of Slavic Russia in Tajikistan. At early beginning it was one of the strongest universities after the Tajikistani Civil War and other unrest in the republic. Alex Sodiqov, born as Alexander Sodiqov ( tg, Александр Содиқов; Russian: Александр Cодиков; born September 7, 1983) is a political science PhD student at the University of Toronto, who was apprehended by security officials in Tajikistan on June 16, 2014 and charged with treason and espionage. Overview Sodiqov was born in the town of Panjakent, in northern Tajikistan within the Soviet Union. He graduated from the Russian-Tajik Slavonic University with a degree in international relations and received a master's degree in conflict, development and security from the University of Leeds in 2008. Yury Mikhailovich Luzhkov ( rus, Ю́рий Миха́йлович Лужко́в, p=ˈjʉrʲɪj mʲɪˈxajləvʲɪtɕ lʊˈʂkof; 21 September 1936 – 10 December 2019) was a Russian politician who served as mayor of Moscow from 1992 to 2010. Before the election of Gavriil Popov as the first mayor of Moscow, he also headed the capital in 1990-1991 as chairman of the Mosgorispolkom. He was the vice-chairman and one of the founders of the ruling United Russia party. During Luzhkov's time, Moscow's economy expanded and he presided over large construction projects in the city, including the building of a new financial district. At the same time, he was accused of corruption, bulldozing historic buildings, and poor handling of traffic, as well as the city's smog crisis during the 2010 Russian wildfires.
