''Russell Morris'' is the second studio album by Australian singer songwriter Russell Morris and first on label Wizard Records and was released in November 1975. It features re-recording of two of Morris' previous hits; "Wings of an Eagle" and "Sweet, Sweet Love" as well as 8 new tracks penned by Morris. The lead single "Let's Do It"/"Don't Rock the Boat" peaked at number 30, whilst the album peaked at number 14 on the Kent Music Report chart in November 1975. Russell Morris
Russell Norman Morris (born 31 July 1948) is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist who had five Australian Top 10 singles during the late 1960s and early 1970s. On 1 July 2008, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) recognised Morris' status when he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. "The Real Thing" was added to the National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia registry in 2013. Career 1966–1968: Beginnings and 'Somebody's Image' Morris' career started in September 1966, when Morris was 18 years old with the formation of the Melbourne group Somebody's Image, together with Kevin Thomas (rhythm guitar), Phillip Raphael (lead guitar), Eric Cairns (drums) and Les Allan (aka "Les Gough") (bass guitar). Somebody's Image quickly developed a strong following at Melbourne's premier venues. Sweet, Sweet Love
"Sweet, Sweet Love" is a song written and recorded by Australian singer Russell Morris and produced by Howard Gable. It was released as the lead single from his debut album '' Bloodstone''. It peaked at number 7 on the Australian Go-Set chart in July 1971; this becoming Morris' fourth top ten single. In a performance of the song in 2007, Morris said he originally wrote the song for John Farnham who turned the song down saying 'it takes too long to get to the chorus'. "Sweet Sweet Love" is made up of two songs, inspired by a photo of his then-wife which he stuck up on the wall in bedsit in London while trying for UK success. David Spinozza is an American guitarist and producer. He worked with former Beatles Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and John Lennon during the 1970s, and had a long collaboration with singer-songwriter James Taylor, producing Taylor's album ''Walking Man''. Career Spinozza worked with McCartney during sessions for McCartney's ''Ram'' album during 1971. When the chance came to work with Lennon two years later, as Yoko Ono prepared her ''Feeling the Space'' album and Lennon his ''Mind Games'', Spinozza discovered that Lennon was not aware he had previously worked with McCartney, and was afraid he would be fired if Lennon found out, given their recent feuding in the media. Harry Maslin is an American record producer, recording/mixing engineer, and studio owner/designer. In the mid-1970s, he engineered No. 1 hits for Barry Manilow ("Mandy"), and Dionne Warwick & The Spinners (" Then Came You"). As a producer, his chart hits include David Bowie's " Fame" (US No. 1) in 1975 and " Golden Years" (US No. 10) in 1976, and seven singles in the Top 5 for Air Supply from 1980–82, including "The One That You Love" (US No. 1). Tasha Thomas ( – November 8, 1984) was an American singer and actress, known for her role as Aunt Em in the original Broadway production of ''The Wiz''. Thomas also had a hit single, "Shoot Me (With Your Love)", from her 1979 album, ''Midnight Rendezvous''. Her birthplace is often cited as "Jeutyn, Alaska", though no such town exists. Carl Hall (June 24, 1934 - September 28, 1999) was an American singer, actor, and musical arranger. Background Carl Henry Carldwell was born on June 24, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Carl and Jessie M. (Johnson) Carldwell. He was raised in the West End of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Because of a reticence to talk about his age, his birthdate was not known to the public until after his death. By November 1950 when his Social Security number was issued, he was also known as Carl Hall. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations.
