Russell Carr
Russell Carr is a British car designer and was appointed head of design of Lotus Cars in 2014. Career Russell studied Industrial Design transportation at Coventry Polytechnic, graduating in 1988. He started work at the Coventry-based MGA Developments before he joined Lotus in 1990 and worked on a number of projects before being appointed head of design in November 2014, replacing Donato Coco. When the Chinese Geely acquired Lotus in 2017, Carr remained in charge of sports car design, but reporting to Peter Horbury, who he previously worked with in the late 1980s at MGA. Donato Coco is an Italian car designer born in Foggia, Italy in 1956. He is known for designing automobiles for Citroën, but even more well-known for designing some of Ferrari's recent cars. Lotus Esprit
The Lotus Esprit is a British sports car that was built by Lotus Cars at their Hethel factory in England between 1976 and 2004. It was among the first of designer Giorgetto Giugiaro's polygonal "folded paper" designs. Background In 1970 Tony Rudd, who had arrived at Lotus the previous year, proposed two new model development projects. The first, Project M50, resulted in the 1974 Elite. The second, Project M70, meant to develop a successor to the Europa which, like the Europa, was to be a two-door fixed-head mid-engine coupé. A meeting between Colin Chapman and Giugiaro was arranged in 1971 by designer Oliver Winterbottom, who also suggested that Giugiaro use his Maserati Boomerang concept as the inspiration for the new Lotus. The Lotus Europa S (Type 121) is a two-seat mid-engine sports car, designed to be a more toned down and comfortable variant of the driver focused Lotus Elise and its derivative, the Exige. The Europa S is a modern version of the Europa line of the 1960s and 1970s. Lotus Evija
The Lotus Evija is a limited production electric sports car to be manufactured by British automobile manufacturer Lotus Cars. Unveiled in July 2019, it is the first electric vehicle to be introduced and manufactured by the company. Codenamed "Type 130" and "Omega", its production will be limited to 130 units. The Lotus Emira is a sports car manufactured by British automobile manufacturer Lotus Cars. It is intended to be the firm's final vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine.
