Russell Bawden
Russell Bawden (born 24 July 1973 in Queensland) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. A Queensland State of Origin representative forward, he played in the National Rugby League for the Brisbane Broncos and Melbourne Storm (with whom he won the 1999 NRL Premiership), as well as in the Super League for the London Broncos. Playing career Bawden grew up playing rugby league in Mount Isa, making his first grade debut for Brisbane Broncos in 1994. Failing to crack the Brisbane first grade team, Bawden moved to London Broncos in the 1995-96 off season. He was signed by the newly formed Melbourne side from the London club and helped Melbourne to a premiership in their second ever season, playing from the bench in their 1999 NRL Grand Final victory. Ingham, Queensland
Ingham is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Hinchinbrook, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Ingham had a population of 4,426 people. It is named after William Bairstow Ingham and is the administrative centre for the Shire of Hinchinbrook. Geography Ingham is approximately north of Townsville and north of the state capital, Brisbane. The town is positioned about 17 km inland within the Herbert River floodplain where Palm Creek drains the low-lying lands. 1999 NRL Grand Final
The 1999 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 1999 NRL season. It was contested by the competition's two newest clubs: the Melbourne Storm, competing in only its second year (having finished the regular season in 3rd place); and the St. George Illawarra Dragons, in their first year as a joint-venture club (having finished the regular season in 6th place), after both sides eliminated the rest of the top eight during the finals. A new rugby league world record crowd of 107,999 was at Stadium Australia for the game. 2000 NRL Season
The 2000 NRL season was the 93rd season of professional rugby league football in Australia and the third to be run by the National Rugby League. Fourteen teams competed from February till August for the NRL Premiership, culminating in the 2000 NRL Grand final between the Brisbane Broncos and the Sydney Roosters. Season summary The 2000 National Rugby League season started with a new CEO in rugby union's David Moffett who replaced Neil Whittaker in late 1999. The season began in early February to accommodate the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games which were to be held during September and required the use of Stadium Australia, the grand final venue.
