Russ Washington
Russell Eugene Washington (December 17, 1946 – August 5, 2021) was an American professional football player who was an offensive and defensive lineman for the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL) from 1968 to 1982. He was taken in the first round (4th overall) of the 1968 Common AFL/NFL Draft out of the University of Missouri. Accolades Washington was selected 2nd Team All-Pro twice in his career, 1979 and 1982, 1st Team All-AFC in 1974 and 1978 and 2nd Team All-AFC in 1973 and 1977. He was selected to the Pro Bowl on five occasions 1974–75 and 1977–79 and won the Forrest Gregg Award as the NFL Offensive Lineman of the Year for 1977. San Diego Chargers
The San Diego Chargers were a professional American football team that played in San Diego from 1961 until the end of the 2016 season, before relocating to Los Angeles, where the franchise had played its inaugural 1960 season. The San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles) announced their 50th anniversary team in 2009 to honor the top players and coaches in the history of the National Football League team. The Chargers were founded in 1959 as part of the American Football League. The anniversary team included 53 players and coaches selected from 103 nominees. The Chargers originally stated that only 50 members would be selected; the group is still sometimes referred to as the ''50 Greatest Chargers''. Online voting by fans accounted for 50 percent of the voting results; votes from Chargers Hall of Famers and five members of the local media made up for the other 50 percent. Forrest Gregg
Alvis Forrest Gregg (October 18, 1933 – April 12, 2019) was an American professional American football, football player and coach. A Pro Football Hall of Fame Tackle (gridiron football position), offensive tackle for 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), he was a part of six History of the National Football League championship, NFL championships, five of them with the Green Bay Packers before closing out his tenure with the 1971 Dallas Cowboys season, Dallas Cowboys with a win in Super Bowl VI. American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. Fumble
A fumble in gridiron football occurs when a player who has possession and control of the ball loses it before being downed (tackled), scoring, or going out of bounds. By rule, it is any act other than passing, kicking, punting, or successful handing that results in loss of ball possession by a player. The 1967 College Football All-America team is composed of college football players who were selected as All-Americans by various organizations that chose College Football All-America Teams in 1967. The NCAA recognizes six selectors as "official" for the 1967 season. They are (1) the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), (2) the Associated Press (AP), (3) the Central Press Association (CP), (4) the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), (5) the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA), and (6) the United Press International (UPI).
