Rushmere, Ipswich
Rushmere is an area and former civil parish in Suffolk, England and lies adjacent to the town of Ipswich, in the Borough of Ipswich, Ipswich district. In 1901 the parish had a population of 601. In 1894 the parish of Rushmere St Andrew was created from the rural part of the parish, on 25 March 1903 the parish was abolished to form Ipswich. Economy The village has two churches (Church of England, and Baptist), two rugby clubs, and a village hall. The village is surrounded by fields and there are many routes into the Fynn Valley. Most of Rushmere is on one road, Rushmere Road. The boundary between Rushmere St Andrew and Ipswich runs along part of Humber Doucy Lane, which leads to the neighbouring village of Westerfield. Sport and leisure Rushmere has a Non-League football club Ipswich Wanderers F.C. who play at Humber Doucy Lane. References External links

Rushmere St Andrew is a village, civil parish and electoral ward adjacent to part of the eastern edge of the borough of Ipswich in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. The parish includes most of Rushmere Heath and parts of the Ipswich suburb of Broke Hall as well as the village of Rushmere St. Andrew, from which it draws its name. Rushmere is a census-designated place (CDP) in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,018 at the 2010 census. Geography Rushmere is located in the northern corner of Isle of Wight County at (37.078580, −76.674436). It is located on the James River at Burwell Bay and is bordered to the northwest by Lawnes Creek, an inlet of the James. Surry County borders Rushmere to the northwest across Lawnes Creek, and Newport News is to the east across the James River. Virginia State Route 10 passes through the community, leading northwest to Surry and south to Smithfield. Colin Rushmere
Colin George Rushmere (16 April 1937 – 20 January 2017) was a South African conservationist and cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1957 to 1965. Cricket career Rushmere made his first-class debut for Eastern Province against Orange Free State in a friendly match in 1956–57, scoring 46 and 55 batting at number five, and taking 3 for 49 and 3 for 27 with his medium-pace bowling. In a friendly match the next season against Griqualand West he scored 147 in an innings victory for Eastern Province. He also played several matches for South African Universities between 1955 and 1959, taking 6 for 32 in a two-day match against Orange Free State in 1956–57. He toured England in 1961 with the South African Fezela XI of promising young players, taking 4 for 29 and 3 for 16 in the victory over Essex. John Rushmere
John Weir Rushmere (born 1 April 1939) is a South African architect and former rugby player and cricketer. Life and career Rushmere was born in Port Elizabeth but attended the University of Cape Town, where he studied architecture. While he was a student there he played for the university rugby team and played first-class cricket for the South African Universities cricket team, as well as playing for the Western Province cricket team in the Currie Cup. A left-arm fast bowler and useful lower-order batsman, Rushmere had his best first-class bowling figures in his first match when he took 6 for 32 in December 1960 to dismiss Western Province for 89 in the first innings and set up the South African Universities' innings victory. He top-scored for Western Province in their Currie Cup match against Eastern Province in January 1963 when he made 49 batting at number five; his older brother Colin was in the Eastern Province side. Mark Weir Rushmere (born 7 January 1965) is a former South African cricketer who played one Test match and four One Day Internationals (ODIs) for South Africa in 1992. Rushmere was a right-handed batsman who played for Eastern Province and Transvaal in South African domestic cricket.
