The Rural Municipality of Enniskillen No. 3 (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 population: ) is a List of rural municipalities in Saskatchewan, rural municipality (RM) in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Division No. 1, Saskatchewan, Census Division No. 1 and SARM Division No. 1, Division No. 1. Located in the southeast portion of the province, it is adjacent to the United States border, neighbouring Burke County, North Dakota, Burke County and Renville County, North Dakota, Renville County both in North Dakota. History The RM of Enniskillen No. 3 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. Sam McKnight came to the area from Durham County, Ontario, and served as chairman of the organizing committee for the RM. He seemed to have had his heart set on a northern Irish name, since his committee proposed Enniskillen, Derry, Antrim, Boyne, Alma, Fermanagh and Waterloo. A rural municipality (RM) is a type of incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. A rural municipality is created by the Minister of Municipal Relations by ministerial order via section 49 of ''The Municipalities Act''. Saskatchewan has 296 rural municipalities, which are located in the central and southern portions of the province. They had a cumulative population of and an average population of in the 2016 Census of Population. Saskatchewan's largest and smallest rural municipalities are the RM of Corman Park No. 344 and the RM of Glen McPherson No. 46 with populations of 8,568 and 72 respectively. The northern half of the province does not lie within any rural municipality, but is rather administered by the provincial government through the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District. Glen Ewen, Saskatchewan
Glen Ewen ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Enniskillen No. 3 and Census Division No. 1. The village is located on the Canadian Pacific Railway just south of Provincial Highway 18. The towns of Carnduff and Oxbow are nearby. The community was founded March 24, 1905 by a rail worker and Glen Ewen's first postmaster (Thomas Ewen). The town policy of tearing down any dwellings which have been vacated, combined with the current boom in the oilfield in this area, has resulted in a housing shortage for incoming workers. The school closed in November, 1989, and is now the Glen Ewen Communiplex. In 2011, the new Glen Ewen Hotel opened, replacing the old hotel that had burned down in 2007.
