The Rural Municipality of Vanscoy No. 345 ( 2016 population: ) is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Census Division No. 12 and Division No. 5. Located in the central portion of the province, it is southwest of the city of Saskatoon. History The RM of Richland No. 345 was originally incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. Its name was changed to the RM of Loganton No. 345 on October 16, 1909 and then renamed again to the RM of Vanscoy No. 345 on April 16, 1934. Geography The boundaries of the RM of Vanscoy No. 345 extend to the north and northwest by the RM of Corman Park No. 344, to the west side of the South Saskatchewan River, to the south by the RM of Montrose No. 315, and to the west by the RM of Perdue No. 346. Delisle () is a town in south central Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located southwest of Saskatoon beside Highway 7. History The origins of the town go back to original settlement which was on the Old Bone Trail. It derived its name from the DeLisle family. Lenora DeLisle with her four sons Amos, Fred, Ed and Eugene, came from North Dakota, United States, in 1903 and homesteaded on the land south of the present-day townsite. With the coming of the Canadian Northern Railway's line from Saskatoon to Calgary in 1908 the settlement to the south moved to the new townsite. The town was named after the brothers on December 29, 1908. Delisle was named a town in 1913. South Saskatchewan River
The South Saskatchewan River is a major river in Canada that flows through the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. For the first half of the 20th century, the South Saskatchewan would completely freeze over during winter, creating spectacular ice breaks and dangerous conditions in Saskatoon, Medicine Hat and elsewhere.
