Ste. Anne (french: Municipalité rurale de Sainte-Anne) is a List of rural municipalities in Manitoba, rural municipality (RM) in the Eastman Region of Manitoba, Canada, lying southeast of Winnipeg. The separately-administered town of Ste. Anne lies within the geographic borders of the municipality, in its northwestern part. It includes Paradise Village, a 55-plus retirement community, founded in early 1990, many of whose residents are "Snowbird (person), snowbirds". The municipality has five privately-owned public golf courses—Cottonwood, Oakwood, Ridgewood, Girouxsalem, and Quarry Oaks—and five privately-owned campgrounds—Lilac, Wild Oaks, Rock Garden, Ridgewood and Cherry Hill. Sainte-Anne is a civil parish in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada. For governance purposes it is divided between the town of Vallée-des-Rivières and the Northwest rural district, both of which are members of the Northwest Regional Service Commission. Before the 2023 governance reform, the parish outside the village of Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska formed the local service district of the parish of Sainte-Anne, part of which was included in Vallée-des-Rivières by the reforms Origin of name The parish takes its name from the church. The Rural Municipality of Hanover is a rural municipality (RM) in southeastern Manitoba, Canada, located southeast of Winnipeg in Division No. 2. It is Manitoba's most populous rural municipality and fourth-most populous municipality overall (behind the cities of Winnipeg, Brandon, and Steinbach) as of the 2021 census. The provincial average of Manitobans whose mother tongue is French is 2.8%, with a total of 36,740 people in Manitoba who identify French as their mother tongue in 2021. While several communities in these have sizeable French minorities, no municipalities have francophone majorities. Dr. Laurie Edward Evans (October 14, 1933 – June 19, 2016) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. Between 1988 and 1990, he served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, representing the riding of Fort Garry for the Manitoba Liberal Party. Born in Unity, Saskatchewan, Evans had a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Manitoba. He worked as an agriculturalist before entering public life, and joined the Academic Staff of the University of Manitoba in 1958. From 1968 to 1969, he was a technical advisor to the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Kenya. He was married to Mary Ellen Evans.
