Running Target Shooting
Running target shooting refers to a number of target shooting sports and events involving a shooting target—sometimes called a boar, moose, or deer—that is made to move as if it is a running animal. Competitions are shot at known target distances, and with known target velocity and for how long the target is visible. The target starts every other time from left or right. Nordic Shooting Region
The Nordic Shooting Region (NSR), established in 1921, is a union of some of the shooting associations from Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Great Britain, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. NSR hosts Nordic championships for some of the ISSF disciplines within pistol, rifle, clay shooting and running target, in addition to some own Nordic disciplines. History The Nordic Shooting Region was founded in 1921 in Stockholm as the "Nordic Short-Distance Shooting Association", following discussions at a Danish-Swedish shooting match in Copenhagen. The founding purpose of the organisation was to strengthen ties between sport shooters within the Nordic region, to organise a Nordic Championship and create the best conditions for Nordic shooters to succeed at Olympic Games and World Championships. Sandviken
Sandviken is a locality and the seat of Sandviken Municipality in Gävleborg County, Sweden with 26,438 inhabitants in 2023. It is situated about 25 km west of Gävle and lies approximately 190 km north of Stockholm. The rail journey to Stockholm takes about 1.5 hours and to Arlanda, Sweden's main international airport, around an hour. 100 meter running deer is a discontinued ISSF shooting event, that was part of the Olympic program from 1908 to 1924, in 1952 and 1956, and of the ISSF World Shooting Championships program from 1929 to 1962, when it was replaced by 50 meter running target. Being the original running target event, it was shot with centerfire rifles from a distance of 100 meters, with the target moving sideways across a 20-meter-wide opening. There were two versions: single shot and double shot. Occasionally combined competitions, with half the course fired single-shot and half double-shot, were held instead of or in addition to the others. The Nordic Shooting Region continued to hold championships in the discipline until 2004. The British Sporting Rifle Club continues to operate a 100 meter running deer range at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley. 100 meter running moose (Norwegian ''elgbaneskyting'', Swedish ''älgbaneskytte'', Finnish ''hirviammunta'') is a Shooting sports, shooting sport based on Running target shooting, running targets simulating a moose moving sideways. The sport is popular in Norway, Sweden and Finland, with competitions being arranged by the Norwegian Association of Hunters and Anglers, Svenska Jägareförbundet and Finnish Hunters' Association, respectively.
