Rune Bakervik
Rune Bakervik (born 19 November 1970) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party (Norway), Labour Party. He served as Chief Commissioner of Bergen from 2022 to 2023, and previously served as mayor, deputy mayor and city commissioner for urban development. Background Bakervik was born in Laksevåg, but grew up in Fyllingsdalen. He studied social science and later started with a major in sociology, but didn't finish it. He later took further education in labour law and management. He has been the regional leader for the Union of Employees in Commerce and Offices since 2011. In his personal time, Bakervik has supported the SK Brann football team. He has also been a leader of the fan club and tournament leader. He is married and has one child. The Chief Commissioner of Bergen (Norwegian language, Norwegian: ''Byrådsleder'') is the acting mayor and head of the city government in Bergen, the second largest city in Norway. The position was created on 26 June 2000 when Bergen adopted the parliamentary system. All members of the City Government is elected by City Council, Bergen City Council. Formation Prior to adopting the parliamentary system, Bergen was governed by the principle of an executive committee, elected from members of the City Council, and a permanent appointed chief officer. According to Norwegian law the matter of adopting a parliamentary system has to be voted over twice, in two subsequent terms. The first vote was held 26 October 1998, and 44 of the 67 city council members supported the proposition. 2019 Norwegian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Norway on 9 September 2019. Voters elected representatives to municipal and county councils, which are responsible for education, public transport, health, and elderly care, and for the levy of certain taxes. The local election was the first since the consolidation of municipalities and counties, reducing the number of counties from 19 to 11, and number of municipalities from 429 to 356. Despite the formal date of the mergers being 1 January 2020, the election proceeded with the new borders and divisions as the term of office began the same day. The political parties in four municipalities in Finnmark county (Alta, Karasjok, Kautokeino, and Loppa) cancelled all their campaigning following a helicopter crash in Alta on 31 August. Bergen Light Rail
Bergen Light Rail ( no, Bybanen) is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Lagunen Storsenter, where the first 15 stations comprising a stretch opened in 2010, and the second was a stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport, Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Further plans for the project involve mooted extensions to Åsane and Storavatnet. Plans for rail transit have existed since the 1970s, following the 1965 closing of the Bergen Tramway. A rapid transit design was first discarded, and in the 1990s a light rail line was proposed. The decision to start construction was made in 2005. The Industry and Business Party ( no, Industri- og Næringspartiet, INP) is a Norwegian political party founded at Vemork in Rjukan on 29 February 2020.
