Rundle Range National Park
Rundle Range is a national park in Central Queensland, Australia, 471 km northwest of Brisbane. The park protects portions of the Calliope River and Fitzroy River drainage basins within the Brigalow Belt bioregion. Two rare or threatened species have been identified in the with the park. Mount Larcom is the name of a mountain, a rural town and locality in the Gladstone Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Mount Larcom had a population of 361 people. Geography The town is in the south-western corner of the locality is at the junction of the Bruce Highway and Gladstone–Mount Larcom Road (State Route 58) approximately south of the city of Rockhampton. The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) is a business division of the Department of Environment and Science within the Government of Queensland. Calliope River
The Calliope River is a river located in Central Queensland, Australia. The river rises in the Calliope Range inland from the industrial port city of Gladstone, flows past the town of Calliope, before emptying into the Pacific Ocean just north of Gladstone. River length is , with a catchment area of . Oaky, Paddock and Larcom Creeks are the main tributaries of the river. The major industry in the river area is the raising of beef cattle. Like most sub tropical and tropical estuaries, the waters of the river may contain box jellyfish for many kilometres upstream. This venomous, marine animal poses a threat to swimmers. The Fitzroy River (Darumbal: ''Toonooba'') is a river located in Central Queensland, Australia. Its catchment covers an area of , making it the largest river catchment flowing to the eastern coast of Australia. It is also the largest river basin that discharges onto the Great Barrier Reef. Brigalow Belt
The Brigalow Belt is a wide band of acacia-wooded grassland that runs between tropical rainforest of the coast and the semi-arid interior of Queensland, Australia. The Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) divides the Brigalow Belt into two IBRA regions, or bioregions, ''Brigalow Belt North'' (BBN) and ''Brigalow Belt South'' (BBS). The North and South Brigalow Belt are two of the 85 bioregions across Australia and the 15 bioregions in Queensland. Together they form most of the Brigalow tropical savanna ecoregion. Calyptorhynchus Lathami
The glossy black cockatoo (''Calyptorhynchus lathami''), is the smallest member of the subfamily Calyptorhynchinae found in eastern Australia. Adult glossy black cockatoos may reach in length. They are sexually dimorphic. Males are blackish brown, except for their prominent red tail bands; the females are dark brownish with some yellow spotting. Three subspecies are recognised. Taxonomy The glossy black cockatoo was first described by Dutch naturalist Coenraad Jacob Temminck in 1807. The scientific name honours the English ornithologist John Latham. The squatter pigeon (''Geophaps scripta'') is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is endemic to northeastern Australia. According to Australia's then Department of the Environment and Energy, the nominate subspecies, southern squatter pigeon (''Geophapa scripta scripta'') is listed as vulnerable.
