Runaways (comics)
''Runaways'' is a superhero comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The series features a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are part of an evil crime organization known as "the Pride". Created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, the series debuted in July 2003 as part of Marvel Comics' "Tsunami" imprint. The series was canceled in September 2004 at issue #18, but due to high numbers of trade collection sales, Marvel revived the series in February 2005. Originally, the series featured a group of six kids whose parents routinely met every year for a charity event. One year, the kids spy on their parents and learn they are "the Pride", a criminal group of mob bosses, time-travelers, wizards, evil scientists, alien invaders and telepathic mutants. Adrian Alphona
Adrian Alphona is a Canadian comic book artist best known for his work on Marvel Comics' '' Runaways'', which he co-created with writer Brian K. Vaughan. Slated to be pencilling the second volume of ''Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane'' when writer Terry Moore took over writing duties from Sean McKeever, Alphona instead chose to leave comics entirely, only supplying the covers for the new series, whilst art duties were handed over to Craig Rousseau. However, Alphona made a return to comics in June 2009, doing art for the '' Captain Britain and MI: 13'' annual. He later drew ''Uncanny X-Force'' alongside Ron Garney. In August 2013, Marvel Comics premiered the monthly series ''Ms. Marvel'', with Alphona as artist and G. Rainbow Rowell
Rainbow Rowell (born February 24, 1973) is an American author known for young adult and adult contemporary novels. Her young adult novels ''Eleanor & Park'' (2012), ''Fangirl'' (2013) and ''Carry On'' (2015) have been subjects of critical acclaim. She was the writer of the 2017 revival of Marvel Comics' '' Runaways'' and is currently the writer for She-Hulk. Career Rowell was a columnist and ad copywriter at the ''Omaha World-Herald'' from 1995 to 2012. After leaving her position as a columnist, Rowell began working for an ad agency and writing what would become her first published novel, ''Attachments'', as a pastime. Rowell gave birth to her first son during this period and paused work on the manuscript for two years. Skrull
The Skrulls are a fictional race of extraterrestrial shapeshifters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Skrulls first appeared in ''Fantastic Four'' #2 and were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. They originated from the planet Skrullos and their empire is located in the Andromeda Galaxy. Their infiltration of Earth was a major event in the Marvel Comics universe as shown in the crossover event ''Secret Invasion''. The Skrulls have made numerous appearances in animated television and video games before making their live-action cinematic debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, '' Captain Marvel'' (2019). Tsunami (Marvel Comics)
Tsunami was an imprint of Marvel Comics founded in January 1, 2003. Overview Marvel's goal was to create comic books that would appeal to manga readers. Other than in the art, the titles shared little in common, with, for example, '' Runaways'' and ''Sentinel'' being aimed at children and younger teenagers and '' Mystique'' touching on espionage and darker themes better suited for an older audience. ''New Mutants'', ''Mystique'', ''Runaways'' and ''Sentinel'' earned critical acclaim and a devoted fan following, ''Human Torch'', ''Namor'' and ''Venom'' failed to generate interest, with the last surviving eighteen issues on the back of exceptionally high initial sales. Pride (comics)
Pride, is a supervillain team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The characters are depicted as a criminal organization that controlled the Los Angeles County, California, Los Angeles area of the Marvel Universe. They are the parents and the initial and most prominent foes Runaways (comics), the Runaways have faced and are the team's greatest enemy to date. The Pride consists of six couples—the mafia-controlling Wilders, the time-traveling Yorkeses, the telepathic mutant Hayeses, the alien invader Deans, the mad scientist Steins, and the dark wizard Minorus. Comic Book
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form.
