Georg Eberhard Rumphius
Georg Eberhard Rumphius (originally: Rumpf; baptized c. 1 November 1627 – 15 June 1702) was a German-born botanist employed by the Dutch East India Company in what is now eastern Indonesia, and is best known for his work ''Herbarium Amboinense'' produced in the face of severe personal tragedies, including the death of his wife and a daughter in an earthquake, going blind from glaucoma, loss of his library and manuscripts in major fire, and losing early copies of his book when the ship carrying it was sunk. Early life Rumphius was the oldest son of August Rumpf, a builder and engineer in Hanau, and Anna Elisabeth Keller, sister of Johann Eberhard Keller, governor of the Dutch-speaking Kleve (Cleves), at that time a district of the Electorate (''Kurfürstentum'') of Brandenburg. Chris Rumph (born December 21, 1971) is an American football coach who is currently the defensive line coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He most recently served as the defensive line coach for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. He previously coached at the collegiate level for over 15 years. Chris Rumph II (born October 19, 1998) is an American football outside linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Duke and was drafted by the Chargers in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Early life and high school Rumph moved often during his early life due his father's career as a football coach. He moved to Gainesville, Florida and transferred to Buchholz High School before his sophomore year. As a senior, he was named first-team All-State and the Big School Player of the Year by ''The Gainesville Sun'' after recording 105 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, two blocked punts, one interception and two fumble recoveries. Mike Rumph
Michael Jamaine Rumph (born November 8, 1979) is an American retired American football Safety (American football position), free safety and cornerback. He is currently the assistant director of recruiting for the University of Miami Hurricanes football team. High school Rumph attended Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, Florida. He was among the SuperPrep National Top 50 players and was a SuperPrep All-American. As a senior, he gained 519 yards rushing and receiving with five touchdowns and totaled 108 tackles and snagged six interceptions for 172 yards. Alice Rumph
Alice Edith Rumph (1878–1978) was a painter of watercolors and pastels, an etcher, and an art teacher. Rumph co-founded the Birmingham Art Club, which established the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, Alabama. She served as the club's founding vice president and later as its president. In 2004, Birmingham Historical Society published ''Art of the New South: Women Artists of Birmingham 1890-1950''. The volume features the artwork of Rumph and seven other prominent artists from the city. Early life and education Rumph, a descendant of John Washington, was born to Mary Hume and Cornelius Mandeville Rumph in Rome, Georgia on May 9, 1877. Rumph House
The Rumph House is a historic house at 717 Washington Street in Camden, Arkansas. In 1874 a single-story Victorian house was built, in which Dr. Junius Bragg, a Confederate Army surgeon, lived for many years. This house was extensively remodeled in 1925, during Arkansas' oil boom, adding a second floor, and restyling the building in the then-popular Craftsman style. This renovation was undertaken by Garland S. Rumph, who was prominent in local politics. Its Craftsman features include wide eaves, stuccoed gable ends, and exposed false rafter beams. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The home was purchased in 2008 by Thomas Holt who has continued to contribute to the history of the home. Improvements have been made to the original structure in 2014 by closing in the back porch adding a sunroom and the addition of a deck in the back of the home.
