Rumiana Jeleva
Rumiana Ruseva Jeleva ( bg, Румяна Русева Желева; born 18 April 1969) was Bulgaria's minister of foreign affairs (July 2009 – January 2010), the third woman to hold this office after Irina Bokova and Nadezhda Mihailova. Jeleva was a key figure in the "GERB" political party which won the 2009 parliamentary elections. From 2007 to 2009 she served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and headed the Bulgarian delegation in the EPP Group. She was nominated by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov as Commissioner in the "Barroso II Commission" and was affiliated with the European People's Party (EPP). However, an article in the German newspaper ''Die Welt'' accused her husband of links with the Russian mafia. Jeleva holds a B.A. in sociology from the University of Sofia (1995) and a PhD in sociology from Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (2003). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( bg, Министерство на външните работи, Ministerstvo na Vohnšnite raboti, abbreviated ''МВнР'', or ''MVnR'') of Bulgaria is the ministry charged with overseeing the foreign relations of Bulgaria. It has been in existence since shortly after the Liberation of Bulgaria, with the first minister stepping into office on 17 July 1879. Until 1947, it was known as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Denominations. Since May 2017 till April 2021 Minister of Foreign Affairs was Ekaterina Zakharieva. Otto Von Guericke University Of Magdeburg
The Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg () (''OvGU'') was founded in 1993, making it one of the youngest universities in Germany. The university is located in Magdeburg, the Capital city of Saxony-Anhalt and has about 13.000 students in nine faculties. According to the Scopus database there are around 32.900 papers published in international journals from the University. Ivaylo Georgiev Kalfin ( bg, Ивайло Георгиев Калфин; born 30 May 1964) is a Bulgarian politician. A three-term deputy, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Deputy Prime Minister from 2005 to 2009 in the Stanishev Government, Stanishev Cabinet. Kalfin was a Member of European Parliament between 2009 and 2014. The Republic of Bulgaria is a country in Southeast Europe, and a member of both NATO (since 2004) and the European Union (since 2007). It maintains diplomatic relations with 181 countries. Bulgaria has generally good foreign relations with its neighbors and has proved to be a constructive force in the region under socialist and democratic governments alike.
