Rudolph Hanson
Rudolph William Hanson (May 30, 1903 – October 12, 2002) was an American politician and lawyer. Hanson was born on a farm in Pickerel Lake Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota, near Albert Lea, Minnesota. Hanson went to the public schools in Albert Lea. Hanson was involved with farming, teaching and the manufacturing of butter. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1935 and the University of Minnesota Law School in 1937. Hanson was admitted to the Minnesota bar and practiced law in Albert Lea. Hanson served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. Pickerel Lake Township is a township in Freeborn County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 746 at the 2000 census. History Pickerel Lake Township was organized in 1865, and took its name from the Pickerel Lake. Rudolph Hanson (1903-2002), Minnesota lawyer and politician, was born in Pickerel Lake Township. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.6 square miles (92.3 km), of which 34.8 square miles (90.0 km) is land and 0.9 square mile (2.3 km) (2.50%) is water. Albert Lea, Minnesota
Albert Lea is a city in Freeborn County, in southern Minnesota. It is the county seat. Its population was 18,492 at the 2020 census. The city is at the junction of Interstates 35 and 90, about south of the Twin Cities. It is on the shores of Fountain Lake, Pickerel Lake, Albert Lea Lake, Goose Lake, School Lake, and Lake Chapeau. Fountain Lake and Albert Lea Lake are part of the Shell Rock River flowage. The city's early growth was based on agriculture, farming support services and manufacturing, and it was a significant rail center. At one time it was the site of Cargill's headquarters. Other manufacturing included Edwards Manufacturing (barn equipment), Scotsman Ice Machines, Streater Store fixtures, and Universal Milking Machines.
