Josephus 'Rudi' Jacobs (born 1960) is a South African lawn bowler. Bowls career Jacobs was selected for the Lawn bowls squad at the 2014 Commonwealth Games but was replaced by Petrus Breitenbach. In 2018 Jacobs was selected as part of the South Africa team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". Lawn bowls at the 2014 Commonwealth Games were held at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre in Glasgow, Scotland from 24 July to 1 August 2014. Lawn bowls is one of ten core sports at the Commonwealth Games and has been continuously held at every Games since the 1930 British Empire Games, with the exception of the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica. Petrus 'Pierre' Breitenbach (born 25 March 1987) is a South African lawn bowler. Bowls career He competed in the men's triples at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a gold medal. He won the 2013 fours at the National Championships bowling for the Potchefstroom Town Bowls Club. In 2020 he was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia. The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018.
