Ruben Östlund
Ruben Östlund (born 13 April 1974) is a Swedish filmmaker best known for his black comedic and satirical films ''Force Majeure'' (2014), '' The Square'' (2017) and ''Triangle of Sadness'' (2022), all of which received largely positive reviews and won awards at the Cannes Film Festival, including the Palme d'Or for the latter two. Life and career Östlund was born in Styrsö, Gothenburg Municipality, Sweden. After high school, he started working in various ski resorts in the Alps during the winter seasons. While in the Alps, he began making skiing videos for his friends, which helped him obtain a job at a local production company. He went on to study at the film school in Gothenburg, graduating in 2001. He was accepted to the school based on his skiing films. Together with film producer Erik Hemmendorff, he is the co-founder of the production company Plattform Produktion, which produces his films. Styrsö
Styrsö () is a small island and a locality situated in Göteborg Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 1,304 inhabitants in 2010. It lies in the Southern Göteborg Archipelago of Sweden with about 1,400 inhabitants. Regulaferriesconnect the island to Gothenburg and a bridge links Styrsö with Donsö. The main type of land transport on the island is a three-wheeled moped, called a ''flakmoped'' in Swedish. (The locals call it ''lastmoppe''). Regular cars are not allowed on the Island. On Styrsö there are four small communities with different characters. The oldest is the Village, called "Byn" with the church from 1752, farms and old cultivated land. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. 2017 Cannes Film Festival
The 70th Cannes Film Festival took place from 17 to 28 May 2017, in Cannes, France. Spanish film director and screenwriter Pedro Almodóvar was the President of the Jury for the festival and Italian actress Monica Bellucci hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. '' Ismael's Ghosts'', directed by French director Arnaud Desplechin, was the opening film for the festival. The festival celebrated its 70th edition. In late March 2017, the official poster of the festival was revealed featuring Italian actress Claudia Cardinale. Kalle Boman
Karl-Axel "Kalle" Boman (born 5 April 1943) is a Swedish film producer based in Gothenburg who has been involved in many works in Swedish cinema for over 50 years. Raised in Södermalm, he was exposed to a theatre school as a boy through a friend, and had a small role in Ingmar Bergman's 1949 film ''Prison''. As a producer, Boman established his studio in Stockholm, but seeking more space, relocated it to Norrsundet. In 2014, he received the Guldbagge Honorary Award. That year, with director Ruben Östlund, Boman entered an art installation into the Vandalorum Museum in Värnamo, with the artists' statement "The Square is a sanctuary of trust and caring. The 69th Cannes Film Festival was held from 11 to 22 May 2016. Australian director George Miller was the President of the Jury for the main competition. French actor Laurent Lafitte was the host for the opening and closing ceremonies.
