Máel Ruba
Máel Ruba ( 642–722) is an Irish saint of the Christian Church who was active in Scotland. Originally from Bangor, County Down, Ireland, he was a monk and founded the monastic community of Applecross in Ross, one of the best attested early Christian monasteries in what is now Scotland. Forms of his name include Máelrubai (Old Irish spelling), Maol Rubha (MoRubha/MaRuibhe) (Scottish Gaelic spelling), or Malruibhe, and it is sometimes Latinised as Rufus, Life Máel Ruba was descended from Niall, King of Ireland, via his father Elganach. His mother, Subtan, was a niece of Saint Comgall (d. 597 or 602) of Bangor. Máel Ruba was born in the area of Derry and was educated at Bangor. In 671, when he was thirty, he sailed from Ireland to Scotland with a group of monks. Ruba Ghazal (born December 6, 1977) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2018 provincial election. She represents the electoral district of Mercier as a member of Québec solidaire. Early life and education Ghazal was born in Beirut, Lebanon to a family of Palestinian refugees. She lived in the United Arab Emirates until she was 10, when her family immigrated to Quebec. She studied at HEC Montréal. Political career Ghazal was a founding member of Québec solidaire in 2006, and was the party's candidate for Laurier-Dorion in the 2007 and 2008 general elections. In 2018, she was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec for Mercier, succeeding Amir Khadir. Ruba Nadda (born 6 December 1972) is a Canadian film director. She made several award-winning short films, including ''Lost Woman Story'', ''Interstate Love Story'', ''So Far Gone'' and ''Damascus Nights'' before writing and directing features ''I Always Come to You'', ''Unsettled'' and ''Sabah''.
